Too cute! | Server Status: If you can read this, it's up |Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

As far as I know all of the importers for W3D files are only Compatible with Max 4 and 5. I don't know of any importers that work with Max 7.
So, What all would I exactly have to have? I have max 5 somewhere, I wasn't expecting to use it but i will.. So what else do i need? W3d to max? Renx? If you could tell me what progs exactly I need, I would be very much appreciative.. Thanks.. I mean as far as importing, and exporting and viewing the models...

3DS Max has a W3D exporter, but it's not the same type. The only way to get models into the game from 3DS Max is to export from max into .3DS, then import the .3DS into Gmax(RenX) ready to export into W3D.
It sucks that you can't do it straight from Max, but that's how it is.

You will need Gmax and it's RenX plugin to export your model into the W3D files that the game reads.

I still have a problem though... Gmax refuses to work on my PC, I've downloaded it from 5 different places and the same thing still happens.. I install Gmax, once it's installed I fire it up and it goes to the free registration page, I click on go and or the website to register and my whole PC freezes, I cant even access task manager in windows 2000?!... So, now I have to hope that I can run it through 3dmax5 because that was the only way I got Gmax to work, but i was using 3dsmax v7.. Unless you know something I don't, Gmax will absolutely not run as standalone on my PC.. I'm gonna have to learn about renx also.. I notice it's in the zip from the link you gave me, Hopefully that part is cut-n-dry... Anyways, If you have any information on why Gmax freezes when it is standalone, Im open.. I can't imagine im the only one that gets this freeze prob... I did a search on yahoo, and saw peeps who had the problem, but couldn't find the thread it was actually in... Thanks for all your help BTW...

RenX wont work if Gmax doesn't start up (it's a 'gamepack', just a bunch of plugins for Gmax).
Good luck in finding the answer. If you really get stuck it might be worth dropping an email to the developers

They no longer support Gmax so I guess I'm shite outta luck..LoL Oh well, It was gonna take too much of my time anyways... Already has... I'll just play the dam game instead of modding it..Well, I haven't heard about this freeze problem before.
