Im going to be mapping again for Only war, I plan on making alot of team based multiplayer maps,and showing you myideas, concept sketches and the like on this forum. I welcome any ideas you have on a map youd like to see, or some in world builder ideas, you think would work. I have some new ideas to create manufactorums, and hive citys. While in the past, attempting to create a hive city has failed, at least i failed at it, im ready to give it another go, and in here, ill have updates for all who is interested. Im kinda fiddling with an idea for the multiplayer maps, to have them themed, so a set of maps would be apart of one battle over a planet, and perhaps some of the fans could work out a campaign to go along with the maps, and depending on who won what battle, youd progress to another map, but thats far ahead from now.

My mapping technique consists of creating doodles, concept sketches of battles id like to see, then transferring that into wb and any other method the brings the ideas in.

later today ill post a scan of one such concept art i did, for an up and coming multiplayer map, which will be focused around a forgeworld heavy industrial city, and trenches on the edge of the city.

However this concept drawing was done quickly, and in a pastel/pencil medium so it will be grainy, but will give you an idea of where i am going to go wtih the first map.

Hope you all enjoy, as for now im gonna grab some shut eye, and when i wake up in a couple, ill scan it in and show it to you.

well, i decided to upload it now, Im sorry the quality is crappy, but as i said it was a quick concept sketch, not art show quality, and it actually looks semi decent in person.

Its a couple guardsman, in a trench watching an artillary barrage out side of a manufactorium city.

I hope it gives someone an idea where im heading with this, thought you may enjoy.

it would be good if you learnt more about worldbuiler then you could make these map in 3dform

i played a campaeign like that before useing necrons, i took over nearnly every planet and then decided to invade a tryrand infested planet and got completely squashed by all the monstous creatures

Erm, he is a mapper btw, he's just showing what he thinks he should make the map look like (the feeling of the map).

Ya, the only reason i have not actually started in worldbuilder, is because I have to buy cnc generals again. and im waiting for its delivery. Ill have more stuff coming soon.

I have another idea im tinkering with, its possible to add weapon effect in a map, and have them loop, Im sure some are familiar with the map over the line, it was an early attempt to create a trench warfare oriented map, Id like to give it another go and add constant artillary strikes, and possible mines, to spice it up, in other words, when the men go over the lines youll have to deal with constant barrages, and minefields, so it will become a real war of attrition, anyone interested in that?

Now tho, this arty would damage units, as I do not know if you can make it so its just an effect. However I think a constand bombardment, and a few random bombardments would really heighten the tension, and would be interesting to see defensive strategys around no mans land, and make more incentive to have more mobile troops to cross over than tanks, and add a bit of tension to the maps as well.

I am new to this part of mapping, but am learning, I do not have much in the ways of scripting etc, but I am still trying to learn.

got a really bad hurricane on route to my area, so i may be gone in the next several days, however when I get back, I will have a suprise hopefully for those who have been checkin this out.

i'll add in them explosion effects... it shouldn't be hard

i can generate some explosion weapons that do no damage... but that'd be a bit wierd..

so err i'll put in barrage

i don't think mines are a good idea though... that'd be very annoying to the player... very... VERY annoying
