Soul 2.4
Background process. Has something to do with some activity going on somewhere. Sorting junkmail, I think. No value or interest. Doesn't do much except hog resource.

I'm kinda wondering why the Forums picked up then went quiet again... where's the input, the ideas, and the anticipation?!? GOGOGOGO!
The slow movement of time causes people to lack interest in posting, perhaps.
Quite honestly i would hope there would be more discussion about what ideas and strategies could come with the next release; but i guess people are seeing Remix's release as being something in the distant future. :(

Give it a few weeks and the forums will pick up again.
There has been excellent progress made with the mod in a short space of time, and Pend needs a break. If you want to discuss things, feel free to start one in the appropriate topic to generate some activity.

For the record I am finally back from my VERY NEEDED vacation. Spent lots of time playing with the children and playing with the wife... 2 separate activities essential for the good mental health of any adult male.
Right before I left for vacation I made some great progress of Robot General. Things really are moving along well now... There was a terrible dead time that still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I've been quite steady on the mod wagon for a couple months and am truly VERY close to a public release.
I've Re-Remixed more than half the generals now, and only have BIG plans for a couple of them left.
Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

I know things drag on the forum, they drag especially bad when I'm not posting regularly myself.

Good to see. Hope to see the mod out soon.

How bad is it to do? Do you have to go into every single unit and modify the effects there, or do they use a general set of effects and you can just replace that master set with your own?
It's a little of both. There is a table for individual particle effects, several hundred effects long... there is a table for weapon effects lists, also several hundred "lists" long... and there then each individual unit has their own listed effects. Different effects or collections of effects, or when to use effects have to be modified in the right places.
No, sorry, no generic factions. In the code those were overwritten by Robot, Flame, and Assault. There is a way to add 3 more, but if I were going to do down that road I would resurrect the 3-new-generals plan... It's very possible, and exciting, but more time than I have on my hands.I have been wondering this for awhile. Will the generic factions still exist? Such a faction could be interesting to a degree with watered down versions of each of the generals techs.

One question though, how 'bout the stealth gen? Will it have the same bad-ass tank the contra stealth gen has?
BTW. I think I've already asked it but will there be a message in game when an enemy general levels? I don't mean the levelling system but just a text telling telling when an other general has gained a rank or when they escalate the conflict. (or is it already there? I don't remember it, it had been a long time since I last played)
