whats the poly count of the ships ?


I'v got a noob question for you, what exactly is poly count and how do you see if there is a high poly count? :)

Basically models with high poly counts are complex models for example, a humanoid is more complex than a box and therefore the humanoid will obviously have more polygons than a box.

The more edges, the more polies etc.

Those space units look awesome. I hope theres space heroes that will take the place of captain piett and admiral ackbar. Hey, besides the units whats the space stations gonna look like. Or have not made them yet?

Port Maw the planet has several Ramilies class starforts, which is what that picture is of.

The Imperial Navy has a great deal of official ship types and classes, will all of these be but into the game? What would be nice, is if you could customise your bog-standard navy cruiser into any other class, like an Overlord Battlecruiser or a Dictator Carrier-Cruiser.



Also, are super-heavy tanks and flyers going to be added to this mod? My last question is are you going to introduce Titans?

Would just like to add this: I;ve read that you will try to scale the ships correctly etc... and many would like to see a star destroyer take on a navy cruiser or battlebarge. This is just a sidenote.

Navy cruisers are 3-3.5km (confirmed by GW fluff fiction)
Frigates are 2-2.5km
destroyers are 1.4km

If memory serves the star destroyers is a mle long or 1.4km, this would make it the same size as the Cobra destroyer.

So if you do scale them correctly and do have a few stardestroyers as pirates, then please, please make sure you get this scale correct.

We may make use of the Port Maw concept/shape.

not all ships that exist will be put ingame, maybe later :p

and why would we use starwars stuff in a 40k TC? Besides, thats illegal.

yeah, we also won't be showing pics of star wars stuff fighting against 40k stuff for the same reasons. Nevertheless, we have the cobra ingame now and it is approx the size of a star destroyer.

In addition, i'll be making the space maps massive, and empty. Asteroid fields are VERY bare and do NOT pack into little clusters, that's plain unrealistic, and the nebulas look shit. Basically space maps will be massive and have a space station or two and a planet. Big battles, big ships, bigger pop cap. Oh, yeah!

What are you guys planning to use for the Figthers and bombers?

The Imperial Navy's main figther is the StarFury, while it's main bomber is the Starhawk.

However the Imperium still employ their atmosphere figthers and bombers to active duty on space-carriers, these include the well known figthers; The Thunder Bolt and Lightning, there is also the famous Marauder bomber.



Also the picture above of the Ramilies class starfort, which is the main battle-stations of the Imperium, and which upwards of twenty (i think) are in high orbit around Port Maw, the Navy HQ for the Gothic Sector and Navy section command for the entire Obscuras segmentum.
The picture is of the early scratch-built proto-type of the Ramilies, this one below is the official verson of the Ramilies Class starfort.

Port Maw would be interesting to see in a mod,but that thing Dwarfes even the Ramilies Class..after all that Model is huge when you think about it,I can just imagine the cannons firing,but will you be using the EAW files for the weapons fire,or will you be making your own for the Lances and Weapons Battaries?

The Blackstone fortress is a massive station and indeed powerful, but its not made by the Imperium and is beyond the Imperiums current level of technology to reproduce.

The blackstone fortresses were built by the Eldar along time ago during the war in heaven.

Also officially there is no other Imperium made space-station bigger than the Ramilies class starfort.

yea i know when it was built they were first built to destroy necrons and c'tans and the necrons are in game so i was thinking maby some sort of superweapon thing and the necs are in game

eldar arent going in at the moment and the only ones other than them ive that can use them are chaos so might unbalance things :p
