now dont get me wrong, i know how much work it takes just to make a single model etc with all the coding etc but what really worrys me is the fact you have annouced an ow2 for eaw. for a start generals is alot easyer to mod and with news that you will be focusing on that and maybe updating ow1 a couple more times leaves me to think that you are leaving ow1 unfinished and going strait onto bigger things that are obviously going to progress even slower. the fact we might not see a ow2 untill 2007 with few units in like ow1 is somewhat worrying and dissapointing considering the potential of it.

in theory a ow2 on empire at war would indeed take alot longer and considering the current speed on the gen engine this would pose quite a problem.

As to dying out... We're not really working any more on OW1 after this release is out, cuz the generals engine has a total of ZERO potential.

Secondly, I said not really working on it, as in not really that much but a little maybe if we feel like it.
However as soon as our coder gives me the latest updated mod files ill sort the last bits...

as Boomer said, BE PATIENT!!, we will have our latest build out soon, and it will be a vast improvement on the previous version, i.e. more like a full release than something to mark our second anniversary...
Don't lose optimism, we haven't, and neither should you... for christs sake, you lot aren't even the ones who make it!
The words "Quality Assurance" and "Quality Control" come to mind...

If it were just a case of adding more units we could add quite a few rather quickly, but we don't want to, see we want to maintain a balance between all 3 of the factions and keep stuff at a higher quality than a fair few of the mods out there, there are some really great mods, and then there are some that have good ideas but generally suck, and then there are the ones that just suck. We don't want to suck, we want people to look at our work and appreciate the effort that has gone into creating it, not just thinking 'wow that particle effect looked cool, but the rest of it looks crap'.
As for it taking a couple of years to get this far, we have a lot more material than many of you could ever know that has been completed, as each of us have had ideas, we've thought about it, implemented bits here and there, seen how it affects the mod and changed our minds or delayed it for future releases, a few things spring to mind off the top of my head:
Thunderbolt
Whirlwind
Chaos (yup you read it right)
Dreadnaughts
So what are we going to do after this next release? simple, keep on slogging away a little bit at a time and make another one, whilst working on ow2 at the same time, you see theres plenty of down time for the team whilst different people work on different things, and if I could find a few more staff to do it with me I would carry on the OW1 Legacy for a fair while to come yet, trouble is, I haven't found anyone to help!
So what have we got planned? Boomer mentioned in annother thread he was going to try and incorporate a hero unit for each side, a few of us are creating custom maps, using new terrain pieces and textures, yet another thing we were saving for later to show everyone but hey never mind. I personally would like to incorporate 2 new factions, being Chaos and the Inquisition, but need more people with me to see that one through, then we also have a fair number of unreleased units we can put together to release every now and then to bolster the forces yet further!

I can see me agree whit sam, and i got some small idea, those XV8 Crisis Battlesuits coud been put components/weapons like the burst cannon, fusion gun and drone controler to make them more flexible units as they realy are...
To give imprial guards some scouting veichle, hvy not use the sentinels to do that job...
I love the yours idea to make this mod!!

some time ago I did actually model all of the upgrades for the crisis suits, and we've got a sentinel somewhere too, but we've had some trouble with walkers animations, they tend to 'slide' rather than walk which looks a bit ugly and cumbersome
once we've got v2.0 out of the way i'll see what we can come up with for the next version, I have a few ideas, some big, some small, some very possible, other fantastical

Battle for middle earth 2 will have an updated version of the SAGE engine and i can say that it is impressive too !ow2 will be a mod for Star wars: Empire at war
