Exactly.And yes, what Holly said is the main reason we need the genres is so we can all work out other bands of a similar style that we may find likeable. If I can't stand anything hardcore/trance (and, by and large, I can't), it allows me to rule out a shitload of bands I know I'll hate. Since you can't immediately tell from a band's name what style it plays, easier to put it into a box alongside similar artists.
