Ok so heres my first skin, only took me about an hour and a half but if I try to improve it I end up messin' it up even more so this is what it is for now.
Helmet looks a bit wierd because I didn't alter the model, just re-did the skin so in an ideal world I'd make the top of his head pointy but what can ya do, anyway, without further ado...
Got the old model next to it so you can see the changes.

the blur is caused by Gmax. Rig it and get a shot of it in the viewer, and it'll look mucho better

Such blur is not only caused by Max. What might the size of your skin be? You have no need to copy EA's sizes, they use crappy 64x64 skins. Feel free to use 256x256 or 512x512 ones.

aye but it gets hard when your putting the detail back in if you resize an old skin

Yah, bluriness is because of of EA's texture size... and my newbieness.
Thanks very much for all your kind words
Btw. How do I "rig it and look at it in the viewer" ? (Newbieness shows again...)

Rigging isn't my field, but you could just export the model as w3d and open it in w3d viewer.
