Well I can sugest a few types of planets.

Deathworlds: Damage Infantry and Vehicles also have "Rancor" type creatures

ForgeWorlds: Bonus to Vehicles and Technology.

Daemonworlds: Bonus to Daemons and Psycic powers.

As for where. Anywhere. I was looking through Galatic Conquest in EoW and the difrent maps basicly limit the number of systems you fight over. We coul pick any subsector out of BFG or Armada and make a strategic map off of that. With a little help from Dark Mellneia

You said there would be many worlds, but many of them are not under entire control of IG or someone else...
This should be a good image for planetary defence forces within the Imperium.

You can also see some landin'crafts on the right.
And about landin'crafts here it's the one for IG that land an entire regiment at once...

they must be obscenely short ranged guns...

as regards to the lander... that thing is quite likley meant to be one of the transport ships you see in battle fleet gothic...

if i remember correctly there were lots of craftworlds that were defeated by the necrons and now are just floating in space with no inhabitants, we could have some of them.

also we could have the eldar craftworlds, whe fighting over them the defenders (eldar) would just be able to use their surface to space weapons a lot (i presume we will have those) and on the surface there will be lots of defences. (the same would go for terra and mars)

and on craftworlds eldar can build lots of buildings. again same for terra and mars.

perhaps an objective for eldar would be to find and capture the craftworlds in campaign.

as for anything else, my knowledge of 40K geography lets me down here, i can't think of anymore "famous" planets to include. i suppose we could add in some less known ones and see if looking through the codexes we can find anything else.

that is a BIG ship.........scale it down.......a lot.......

what about having the craftworlds and "dead" craftworlds (that the necrons clean wiped of life)

could you have the craftworlds as movable planets? perhaps they could go to anywhere on the galactic map (planet or just empty space), or perhaps they would have to orbit other planets.

i suppose there would have to be a limit as to how far and how often they can travel, and some places would be too dangerous to go to.

well i can't wait to see the new lander.

to put every world on the map would be absolutely impossible as there are millions of worlds in the imperium alone!
as for eldar you will just have to wait as theres plenty to do with the current races.
