You guys DO know that the Space Marines, Imperial Guard, and the Tau are three of the least likely factions in Warhammer 40K to fight each other, right?

I trust you forgot about the tau incursions into imperial space and the subsequent campaign to reclaim the lost territories

the guard probably wouldn't fight the marines, no, you're right. But will people pay heed to that in games? i think not.
In vanilla generals would the USA fight itself? probably, yes

The Tau and the Imperium fight all the time, the only reason the Imperoim dosn't wipe them out, is because the Imperium is more focused on the bigger threat of the Tyranids, particually Hive Krakan.
The Imperium just dosn't have the resorces at the moment in time to have a long term battle with the Tau, that is why, for the most part, they are at peace.

just finished disk 1.... i am going to rape sephiroth with such a huge angular geometric object that he'll split in two!
I'm sure people who know what happens at the end of disk 1 will know what I mean
god.. this must seem like really old news to everyone else who has finished ff7 a million times over

i'm chasing ultima weapon around right now.... fought him 3 times already... dunno how much longer this is gonna go on for
clocked up just over 21 hours on the game timer so far... hell knows how long that is in real time.. considering it seems to run slower than it should..
