Original Heroes Reskins - 24/11/06

One common problem many people had with the Beta was that the old Good faction heroes really didn't stand up well when placed next to the new, high resolution skins of the likes of Haldir, Eowyn, and Gamling. To fix this, I've decided to reskin all the original Good heroes. So far I have done Eomer, Theoden, Gimli, Gandalf the White (two updates ago), and Faramir. Renders for these can be found below. I've also done Gandalf the White's mounted variation and have also done 3 new variations for Eowyn's unarmoured model, though I didn't bother making renders for any of these.

Next in line: Faramir on his horse, Boromir, Gandalf the Grey, and Aragorn. That should cover everyone.

Celglin they are amazing!!! :p Great job as always :p I really like Gimli and Eomer.
Only one small thing: is it a screen defect, or Theodens sword is trurly so thick? For me it should be a bit longer. But apart from that, everything's wonderful :p

or if you really want to treebeard.
...
but you should still do treebeard

EA's Treebeard is already high rez. Though he may not look quite like he does in the film, the resolution of the texture stands up fine to the new stuff.

Only one small thing: is it a screen defect, or Theodens sword is trurly so thick? For me it should be a bit longer. But apart from that, everything's wonderful :p

It's mostly a camera angle thing. The length is right, but I did make it slightly thicker than it really is (actually, EA did. All I changed about the sword was the skin and the length). Sometimes you have to stretch things to make differences noticable ingame.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! The wierdest thing about these reskins is that my favourite part of all of them is the tiny strip of white mane on Eomer's horse: it really shows up well ingame.

Amazing!

What about evil heroes? You could always 'borrow' from RA.

Oh yeah... I forgot to post the Saruman I had already done... That leaves only Lurtz for low rez, but I have no desire to do him.

Maybe, but I don't think that adding more heroes for evil factions is good idea. Good factions should be hero-based, to many evil heroes would make game imbalanced. But one more hero for Mordor is an idea to think over.

I'm thinking of doing something with the Ringwraiths... Possibly removing one of the fellbeast riders and adding in two who are onfoot/mounted on a horse...

And reskin mordor
then isengard
then gondor
then rohan
and by that time, your elves needs 1024*1024 skins, so you redo them
then add many things to the factions.....

I can see where this is going :p

Cel, now that you have a high rez Saru, the other won't look cool.....
Mordor, the same maybe?
Rohan, Peasants and yeomans :) or have you done them?
Gondor, Faramir and other heroes... regular soliders?

^_^ :p
