basically you make one ring, then copy and connect them. then you add some touches like rust and/or bent rings

but i'm not a skinner

you can define this one ring as pattern, so you don't have to copy all ring by ring ^_^

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides
By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will,
Shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness,
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger
Those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Or conversely if youre not much good at drawing objects from scratch (like me) you could use the trick ive developed for chainmail.

I have 4 or 5 chainmail photos (of varying colour and type) which tile reasonably well, and I just use the clone stamp on these, and add some shadows and higlights after.

The draw and clone method doesn't work as well for chainmail, because you end up with rings that look pretty bad when shrunk to BFME texture scale size... but it's the easiest way by far.

you are right in one way there. how good it looks depends very much on the texture you start with. it can work quite well though, and for someone of limited skill (like myself) is the only way.

Hehe, yeah... I'm by no means any kind of authority on photosourcing... I leave that to the qualified people.
