Sad news, BFME+ cancelled

:( Hey everyone,

I'm sorry to announce that the mod team has decided to cancel BFME+ and totally stop any work on it.
As you may have noticed, there was nothing going on for some time now, this is because none of the team members has the time and mood to work on it any longer. At first I thought I would take the time to fix some of the most annoying bugs, but I really didn't feel like it.
Everyone of the team regrets that the mod will not be finished, as we had some really cool stuff planned (at least in my opinion).

However, we decided to release a modder's edition of BFME+. This means that there is no readme, no installer, no obvious bugfixes; it's just the WIP in it's current form, with all the unfinished parts. Maybe someone will still find it interesting to play and test it a bit, and see some of the effort we put into this mod.

I've also uploaded the newest set of screenshots, so that you can take a look and see for yourself if you want to download it and play it.

Should you find any piece of art or code you wish to use for your own mod, please drop us a short PM and you will most likely get the permission. As usual, ripping off or modifying things for personal use is allowed. Yeah, we wouldn't be able to prevent it anyway :lol:

Comments in our forums are welcome, but I won't fix any bugs or do any adjustments to the mod (or site), even if publicly asked for. Although it was a great time, I'm done with BFME modding.
I think I'm speaking for the whole BFME+ Staff when saying that there are other interesting projects to work on now. I myself will be focusing on CNC3.net, a modding site for the upcoming Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars...

That's disappointing :(. I was really looking forward to this mod, but I kind of sensed this was coming (you dropped numerous hints you were leaving the BFME modding community).

Good luck with CNC3.net, and thanks for all the help you have given out during your time here. You were a great forum member :lol:

Aww thanks man, this is really nice to hear. Yeah, I've been inactive here for some time, even more after BFME2 was becoming popular and I hadn't bought it. Anyway, I'll still drop by from time to time, while I prepare the path for those who want to try out modding EA's newest SAGE game...

Sithy, as i told you while back. I wish you good luck with C&C3. We may meet here later, cause that new coding style and all the stuff around is interesting me a lot. ( i have an idea for mod and it fits C&C3 much more then BFME :lol: )

it was really good time with BFME+ for me. i was really glad to work with you guys :p

Yeah, it means that my activity here will drastically decrease (no wonder, if I have nothing more to work on here). I think I'll still make use of my T3A Team Chamber membership, so I may read some posts now and then (maybe a bit more until CNC3 is released and my time will be used for that).

I really liked this mod, you guys did great work, sorry that it ended. I'm not saying goodbye, because i'll see you at CNC3.net, but i'm sad to see you leave T3A. I'm definitely downloading the WIP mod, and good luck with your projects in the future.

You got a luck that I accidentially saw this... I didn't plan to come back :)

Anyway, you must do two steps to install the mod:

1. Unzip the file and move the BFME+.big to a path like:

C:\Documents and Settings\*yourname*\Application Data\My Battle for Middle-earth Files

Note: it's possible that you can't see the "Application Data" folder. In this case, you need to un-hide it.

2. Copy the BFME shortcut on your desktop and rename it to BFME+ or so. Then right-click->Properties. In the field "Target" you should have something like

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Battle for Middle-earth (tm)\lotrbfme.exe"
Add -mod BFME+.big, so that it looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Battle for Middle-earth (tm)\lotrbfme.exe" -mod BFME+.big

Now you can use your new shortcut to play the game with your mod and the normal shortcut to play the unmodded game.

Go to the main page and have a look at the tutorials there. If you have a question, you can post it in the forum. I hope that's enough...
