im pretty new to modding, and only done a couple of things, such as changing horde sizes, cp costs, adding units from one faction to another--basic stuff

can anyone give me an idea on how to make both dunedain rangers and ithilien rangers able to toggle between sword and bow and benefit from fire arrow upgrades and forged blade upgrades

this is probably simple for many people so try and not make fun of me

i know i have to make changes in the commandset folder and the motw horde folderbut still cant figure it out

any help would be appreciated

hmm i dont know much about this- but i think it's not THAT easy-
since rangers werent meant to fight with swords, i guess they dont have the model and or animations for swordfighting-

i guess its the same if you want to make a monkey "spray" water out of a trunk like an elefant- you see monkeys lack trunks :scars:

please correct me if im wrong- or maybe someone can put this into proper english.. :scars:

I get what you're saying but when you use both the Ithilien rangers and the Dunedain rangers, they take out their swords for melee attack when the enemy gets close.

BTW- I liked the monkey reference

Firsty if you give them the power of toggle they would be quite over powering. Thats not good and not fun.

Secondly let me pull up my ini and help you with the upgrades.

not necessarily. their insane archer strength could just be toned down (i don't think they should be that strong anyway. their point is that they can be used for surprise attacks. mass spamming rangers should definitely cause you to lose)

// Fire arrow upgrade
	Behavior = WeaponSetUpgrade ModuleTag_FireArrowParticlesAndLegalityUpgrade
		TriggeredBy		= Upgrade_GondorFireArrows
	End

	// Tie into LargeGroupAudio system
	Behavior = LargeGroupAudioUpdate ModuleTag_LGAU
		Key = Humanoid_Male Man Man_Male Unit Infantry Gondor_Archer
	End

	  Behavior = DualWeaponBehavior ModuleTag_09
		  SwitchWeaponOnCloseRangeDistance = 40
	  En

Add that to Ithilen Rangers Ini and tell me when you have done that

Okay Now add Command_ConstructFireArrows Or something like that to the command set. Look for Gondor Archers commandset and take the Firearrow upgrade and add to the command set to be sure that you have it right
