AMERICAN FOOTBALL FUCK YEAH.

I think what you were trying to say is RUGBY FUCK YEAH. Not your pale, nonsensical, over-protected, overpaid imitation of a great game.

So yeah, snooker?

Considering the fact I do not understand the apparent wit behind your inquiry, I don't think so. :p I don't know anything about clubs or rankings.

I thought you were from around Utrecht, and with FC Utrecht failing to realize play-offs for the Europa League, you might be a bit bitter... Though I don't suppose you care about it now :p
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

Let me give you my understanding of American football. 1) The name of the game makes no sense. The players use their hands. What you call soccer we call football, because in that game people use their feet most of the time. 2) You can substitute the entire team based on whether you're attacking or defending. This is ridiculous. What ever happened to versatility? 3) You can tackle anyone at any time for no reason, so really tactics go out the window and it's simply a matter of which team has more mindless 'roid-raging hormonal mutations to shove for them. 4) They wear so much padding it makes no difference anyway. Compare this to rugby, in which the only padding available is a scrum-cap to stop your ears getting ripped off (that has happened). 5) I don't know what the hell that whole 'hike! hike! hut! hut!" thing is about, so I'm just going to assume early American football players didn't know enough real words to convey a proper range of understanding. 6) American football is clearly based on rugby. Therefore it is indeed an imitation, but not one that has made obvious improvements to the sport like Aussie rules football has. Seriously, watch that shit, it's awesome.

The only American sports that are actually good are ice hockey (which is not just called hockey, because regular hockey is played on a pitch with a ball) and basketball, which is admittedly a lot more fun than netball.

Like.

In Australia we call real Football, ''European Football'' I don't know why!
But everybody likes a good game. No matter what ridiculous rules it has.

I read somewhere that recently Australia has gone over to calling it Football instead of Soccer, following, well, basically everyone else :p

If you ever hop the pond we'll watch a game and I'll show you what the hell is going on. It is pretty confusing if you don't have someone with an understanding of the game to show you. That's probably why I haven't gotten into the other big sports - the only people around here who watch European football are either hardcore neo-Nazis or pill-popping idiots. I don't associate with either of them.

And nobody over here cares about hockey in any form, though rugby is picking up steam due to a large amount of college-age enthusiasts.

You know what, I might take you up on that. I'll come see your New Orleans whoever and you can try to explain what all the fuss is about. And in return, I'll explain real football to you. And rugby, if there's time, but really you need a live example for that. Rugby's not really the sort of sport you can explain with a whiteboard and fancy words. You need to play it to love it.

Some people were starting to call it Football during the World Cup where Australia was actually won games.
But after the loss it went back to being unimportant and Soccer.

A little belated, but Spurs have qualified for the Europa League next season, which I think is excellent. We'll play the youngsters, get them a taste of European football and just maybe we'll be in with a shout of actually winning the thing. On top of that, without the Champions' League distracting and tiring the proper first team, we might be able to challenge for a Champions' League finish next season, although honestly I think it'll have to come at Arsenal's expense, because I think Man City will just be too good next season.

I would also like to celebrate most heartily the fact that I have finished and handed in my dissertation. 9541 words on a discussion of Beowulf and Grendel written and researched, and now I never want to hear another word about them again. :p I just hope it was good. But mostly I'm just glad it's done. Now I can actually graduate from university.

Edit: Also 4444 posts. This is a big moment for me.

I finished watching Battlestar Galactica (the new one). That's cause of celebration because it was amazing, I'm not gonna vent for it's end.

Canucks are in the final round of the Stanley Cup playoffs now... I never though this would happen, but it's great! Maybe this will finally be our year.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

I passed my test four and a half years ago, and yet sometimes I still get into the car and think "Who the hell thought this was a good idea!?" I also regularly get freaked out by the fact that I have bills to pay. But then I remember I'm a man, and drink through the fear.
