Happy birthday to me! Wooo 21.. Never thought it would be so insignificant. HOWEVER, I did finally manage to get my new PC to boot up, I had a very annoying issue with my motherboard not reading my processor...

I don't get it. Is it an achivement to be able to drink? Is the fact that you're allowed to drink something to be proud of?
"So, good sir, what have you achived in life?"
"I'm allowed to drink. In the States. Finally! I've been waiting 21 years for this, and now, because so many days has passed since my birth, regardless of my actions in the meantime, I can drink! It's a proud moment."
Happy birthday Kwen, even though one could argue that it is your parent's achivement rather than your own.

I was mostly making fun of being able to join the army at a rather young age, but I'LL BE DAMNED IF YOU HAVE A DRINK thing the US has going on.
Especially since he can drink in the country he was stationed in

Representing his country, can he really? (I'm not talking during active duty, but since he's American on official buisness abroad. Do the laws of home apply?)
We abide by two sets of laws, the Host Nation laws since the base is a joint operation base between American and Japanese Air Forces, we abide by Japanese laws. However I have to also obey the Military laws, which do not specify things like drinking age, that is taken care of by the country.
So living in Japan the legal age for all people here, Americans and Japanese, is 20,
And it's not so much about being able to drink like I've been waiting 21 years to be an alcoholic, how many people ACTUALLY wait until 21 anyways? It's more the fact that it's the last major milestone of age restrictions, it is a commonly agreed concept that 21 is the "real adulthood".

Psh. We Dutch allow our spawn to drink at 16, creating a highly problematic drinking culture that starts at around age 13. Take that.
