I've recently made a couple of short gameplay movies with FRAPS (to help my girlfriend with Half Life 2). It is very easy to use... I was thinking that someone should make a trailer for the mod with a montage of fighting and explosions, to Generals music. Remix 3 has some very impressive powers and units, and seeing them in action would be fairly convincing to the prospective player. Post the video on Youtube - bingo, more people will try it out.
I am sure someone on the boards could make a good job of this, but alas, it is not me.

Or someone could make "Let's Plays" on tons of other fourms.
And then we'd get tons of people here.

Or if you guys sent me the raw footage (Preferably from a much more powerful computer) I wouldn't mind doing it.

Also are you using the full or free version of fraps?

free version of fraps only lets u record 30 seconds each video i beleave so it has to be full if he made a video off hl2 for his gf.

Ps: i don't have fraps this computer sucks and also i don't have a clue as to video editing so i can't.

ive been offering to do this for a while, but nobody responded, so i gave up. i would happily make a trailer for the mod. game cam pro is what i would use, i have the full version of that, and it is very reliable.
what would make it perfect would be a camera hack thing for generals, so you could film from awesome perspectives. but it can still be done without it.

Death, your more than welcome to make a video, just run it by me before you post it everywhere. I've also had an interest in making a phraps video,I've just never gotten around to it. Theres always 1000 other things that are more important to do. But anybody is welcome to make one... infact, the more the better as it gives some variety.


A video of collected in-game clips and a few info bits and it could make a very nice advertisement.

well, you could include a video at the beginning of loading up generals for remix aswell, slightly different from the one posted around every where to advertise it.

but you dont want to show off everything thing in the mod, only a few things, e.g some superwepaons some superunits and serveral cool generals powers. maybe some nice FX e.g lightening tank.

enough footage to get people to play it, but little enough so that when people play it there will be suprises instore and new things they wont have seen.

Well in the menu a video would be much beather than the live action becose you could make it more intense withouth cripleing the older PCs.

And for the intro it would be nice to use clips from acctual battles (I mean the big ones).

no i dont mean a video at the shell map, i meant a loading up video.
why you start up generals, and it loads remix..you see the screen where the rapier plane has bombed a tank and is flying away. i meant you could put a video there instead of the pic.
the shell map is fine as it is.

I new improved shell map and a trailer would be much better.

Acctuly its beather to have a video than a shell map becose you can have a much more interesting menu with a clip.

I don't care if we have a video or a shell map for the menu system, olli is talking about a video of some kind for an intro, I don't want that i want the game to be fast loading and bam into the game i don;t wanna have to skip a damn intro.

The trailer will show of the mod enough if made right and enough of us spread it about, And the video/(new)shellmap would show units and fighting anyway so peaple could watch that for a short while if they wanted lol.

I was half-expecting my idea to be shot down, so I am glad you people are interested. Yes, it is the free version of FRAPS and whoever said it was "this is how to kill an antlion" is pretty much right. The FRAPS watermark would be a pain in the ass I guess, but that guy has the full version.
I don't think you'd need any silly camera angles (not least because Generals is graphically dated and does not impress up close) - just a montage of cool things, such as:
- Flight of the dragon
- Pretty much any large carpet bomb or infantry drop
- Napalm missiles firing upwards from the launcher, or tomahawks going up
- A bunch of those double-retaliator tanks raping infantry
- A SW gen shield generator stopping a barrage of incoming fire from every direction
- Any superweapon hitting for the finale, the H-bomb or similar, just before it splashes "REMIX 3 - DOWNLOAD THE ALPHA NOW at <web address> " onto the screen.
The only thing slowing people down as they feverishly type the web address into their browser will be the necessity to stuff their dicks back into their pants.

Don't get me wrong but are you talking from personal experiance cos i sure a many number of peaple are not like that

i think plasma/lighteing FX need to be shown as well as the ion cannon. deffo

Olli you want everything to be seen, u gotta remember we want some surprizes for when peaple download the mod.
I don't really think any of the sw's should be seen apart from 1 maybe 2.
As some of them are like l33t, specialy ion cannon and AF gens sw.

ok definatly include the mechs from cyber gen, and his storm trooper pods. they look really cool.
maybe a quick glimpse of the lightening tank firing.

and a line of spiders mechs agianst a horde of infantry. maybe we could set this up in a PVP game.
