No they wont stubs i played a number of mods that had bigger airfields.
One mod i played once had a china airfield that could hold 9 planes.

I was half-expecting my idea to be shot down, so I am glad you people are interested. Yes, it is the free version of FRAPS and whoever said it was "this is how to kill an antlion" is pretty much right. The FRAPS watermark would be a pain in the ass I guess, but that guy has the full version.
I don't think you'd need any silly camera angles (not least because Generals is graphically dated and does not impress up close) - just a montage of cool things, such as:
- Flight of the dragon
- Pretty much any large carpet bomb or infantry drop
- Napalm missiles firing upwards from the launcher, or tomahawks going up
- A bunch of those double-retaliator tanks raping infantry
- A SW gen shield generator stopping a barrage of incoming fire from every direction
- Any superweapon hitting for the finale, the H-bomb or similar, just before it splashes "REMIX 3 - DOWNLOAD THE ALPHA NOW at <web address> " onto the screen.
The only thing slowing people down as they feverishly type the web address into their browser will be the necessity to stuff their dicks back into their pants.

wow that looks amazing. how did they get it so high detailed, and how did they make it so that they zoomed right in elevated the camera up to the sky?

I don't care for camera angel changes its not like peaple play zoomed right in or with the camera tilted to the side, its a tactical game can't play it that well if all u see is a spot on the screen.

And i not really sure i beleave all of that is ingame i sure some of that was video enhanced or such.... the graphics was way to shockinly crisp.

And wtf is with that SR-71 blackbird doing firing a missile? wtf is that its a recon plain not an attack aircraft wat morons.

Actually the game does look that good.
Isotx prides itself on having just about the greatest graphics around.

Then he would have to have made every single map aswell to make the models on the map so High poly, as the standard models on maps are well basic.
Serisoly some of that looks a big too far to be real..

actualy I'm convinced some of the screenies were modified. The flyby views with the planes and a few other scenes scream of edited backgrounds. they're either modified pics OR on special maps that used high def photos as the terrain. (this would do a perfect fake over). There are ways to make the clips look good using "in-game" screens that are created within the engine, but yuo would never see while playing.

Also, some of the sounds are DEFINATLY imposed over the video.

But, honestly, I commend them for that. Its a promotional video, not a gameplay demonstration. the job of the video is to look killer good. And it does. They get an A+ for that.

An in-game video is a completely different type of video.

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

Yes. The sounds are edited over.
But they flew to the middle east to get those sounds. So let them overuse them.
Also all the maps are custom maps. Try it out sometime. It's not remix but you guys might like it.

acctually from trying out mapping for sometime there are some elements in the worldbuilder that seamed t obe vids^^ but I never tried them out there was for example the Baikonour missile as you can see it in the ZH and it was like a picture

well, my stance is unchanged, any of you, or all of you are invited to make all the videos you want. maybe we can get a bunch of really good clips and then share them around and let everyone edit and splice them... then the best versions get pushed on YouTube and General's files, etc.


I will say though... I'm not too worried about "showing everything". Theres alot of material in game, and theres a whole lot more being worked on now. Even if you showed every unit and special in the game it would still be a treat to play for the first time. the goal is to get people interested, on the forum, and playing. Let the video show anything and everything to get them to try it... let the gameplay keep them in the comunity.

If you "hide" something from the videos it will only have first time shock appeal to the player and will contribute little or nothing to keeping players active. Instead, show all to get them to try it.


Also, keep in mind, there is a HUGE difference between a promo video and a gameplay video.

Promo videos are used to get people's attention, for these the different camera angels and zoom in-outs are great. If you want to get casual players to try the mod for the first time this is the way to go.

Gameplay videos are used to show what the actual game is like. These should always be fullscreen, mouse included, and are best used to show a match from start to finish, (time lapses are fine, to save time). A perfect example would be TWO players both recording thier game. then both videos would be made into a composit and edited to show the critical stages of the game. Narration is a plus here as the players can explain what they are working on as they go.


If the goal is to "raise the profile" then a promo video is whats needed.

I would show off:

Lightning Weapons (especialy chain lightning.... in slow mo :D )
Stormtrooper Androids (especialy alternating weapons)
Spider Mines (pop-up effect especialy)
Spider Mechs
Fafnir
Flight of the Dragon
Heavy Tank drops
Infa General's Drop strip (delivering heavy units)
H-bomb
Satilite Relay (vehicle deploying, but superweapon firing)
ShieldGenerator (first deploying, then activly intercepting rockets)
SDI cannon (firing on a group of small/medium targets is best)
Modular Defenses (a variety)
Orcas and Narhwales
Napalm Missile Barrage (firing and hitting)
Scorched Earth Artillery (hitting)
Plasma Powerplant
Osirus and Anubis tanks
AC-150 gunship
Saturation bombing
Plasma artillery firing (focused on the rotary barrels)

A few seconds on each of these run down the list (re-ordered for dramatic effect ofcourse) could make a very nice 2-3 minute video. And creative use of the free floating camera combined with some other simple effects could get alot of attention.

Everyone, if we (as a group) are serious about doing this we also want some stock footage... The more players who pickup clips the better. we can combine all the best clips (both those staged in WorldBuilder and actual ingame) to make alot if videos. Even 3 second clips like a view of a MSP4 or smerch firing, one clip from above and another from the ground behind it (using floating camera) could make some great footage. simple units would be needed just as bad as everything in my fancy list above.




I also love gameplay videos though...

Now, the perfect goal would be to catch atleast 4 gameplay videos, 1vs1 of different generals to show the full gameplay of each general. A little bit of scermishing at each techlevel to get all the units in combat for all to see. 2 generals showcased per video, preferably well matched generals.
(not flame vs infantry) These videos would then get posted in the screenshots area.

has anyone seen the Scraft2 gameplay video? Imagine the samething, but with time lapses to speed up a 45 minute game to show it off in 2-3 minutes.

If we have a couple players, both willing to work on a long and drawn out recording, I'd be glad to join on Ventrilo and direct some of it to get the right timing. Its important to plan it out in advance, because not every event needs to be recorded in real time. In splicing time lines can be shifted several minutes each.

the mirv is a big one, but I was trying to focus more on things that wern't already in Contra. the Fafnir is in Contra, but it started in Remix, and the SDI cannon is a crossover, but it behaves very differently.

well as i said i don't have a clue how to do video editing and such and i don't have fraps or any other program to make a video from so i can't help in thsi respect.
If i knew how to make videos and splice them together and such then sure.


the splicing and editing part is easy, microsoft movie maker is so easy my 8 yearold sister used it to make AMVs... its just a matter of getting the clips togeather in one place. I recomend just getting the free version of FRAPPS and trying it out. If you don't want to edit, thats fine, you can send the raw clips to me or someone else who can edit.

yer ok, but u have to remember pend fraps only lets for 30 seconds maybe 60 for the free version and i think it has fraps logo on it... so idk.
Anyways i'll have a look and see about getting some clips for peaple to edit.
