ENTIRELY unrelated to the mod...But I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on how to reduce overheating. I've been playing on the lowest detail level and the game still overheats after 20 minutes or so. It's a fairly new PC, family just got it about 1 year ago. It's really annoying when you have to save every five minutes for fear of losing the game and having to start over.

Do you know what's overheating? If it's your GPU you may have a problem, but if it's your CPU going to a store and getting a crappy desktop fan (or some special laptop fan if you have a laptop) will fix it. GPU overheating could be caused by a whole lot of things though, and you might have a problem fixing it. It's most likely your CPU though, so buy a fan and see if it helps. If it doesn't, download RivaTuner (use Google) and turn your fan up to 100%.

It is not a laptop; I'll try just getting a fan next to it, because I think it is some problem with the fan. I'm pretty sure it's the CPU overheating because every time I turn it on after letting it cool down, it says that the CPU was shut down because of a thermal event. I don't really have the ability to do anything fancy because my parents don't like me doing stuff to the computer. They'd probably hate it if they knew I'd downloaded the mod in the first place, not to mention Fraps and Winrar and a couple other programs, but they can't even run the DVD player, so the likelihood of them finding out is pretty slim.

If that doesn't work, I'll try that Riva Tuner thing.

I bought a fan, works great once I take the cover off. Thanks for the help, people. Now I should have some uninterrupted playtime after the upcoming public release

Will the public release hold all the updates of the latest private beta with bug fixes, or less, or more, or what?

Regardless, it is the Christmas present I am most looking forward to.

Yes, this weeks is the first draft of the 1.05.06 private beta. It holds everything in the updates you've seen and much more. I'm doing 2 more runs this week and next and putting as much as I can in the next two weeks to hold as much as I can fit in.

I have a good idea.

The Arnor Knights have the body of a Gondor Soldier. You should replace the mounted gondor soldier for a arnor soldier. ;)

Arnor knights are no more. Arnor have changed a lot since the version you're playing, but no fear, there will be a public release in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, take a look at the latest news update to see more the changes to arnor.

Here is where I'd like to discuss areas that cover multiple factions in general

Robert's todo:
- Finish all the combo hordes for all factions
- Ensure every object that should be is listed in the appropriate filter in experiencelevels.ini
- Add experience gained from buildings
- Rebalance campaign with the new units and hordes
- Rework Threat levels and system
- create initial pass-through for balance of all units/factions
- create new icons for combined hordes for the formation assistant
- create new living world icons for heroes and new buildings for factions
- create symmetry for all forged blades effects? All blue, or blue and red, blue green and red, etc.
- High-quality textures for all units/heroes
- Redo skirmish army %s for new units/factions
- Ensure all of the BFME1 AI's function as designed
- Ensure the armor of the walls in the BFME1 type maps are equivelant or at least balance (walls, upgrades, gates, etc.). Walls and gates should only be attackable by siege.
- Ensure all Walkable walls have a balanced health/armor
- Use the randomtexture/object methodology used for the Rohirrim across more units - this will enable the random textures to continue through the upgraded textures. Hair color should not change as a result of an upgrade :cool2:

Bugs:

#1 Priority:
FIXED - 1.05.01- Find and fix the game freezing bug!!!! I've got some changes in the inn system to see if that helps.
FIXED - 1.05.01 - Fix the game.dat error at the end of Moria
FIXED - 1.05.01 - Gondor Alliance cannot be purchased with Rohan at the inn (Maybe more)
FIXED - 1.05.01 - Remove the REVEAL_TO_ALL from the capture flags in the BFME1 maps
- Check Arrow Volley vs. Walls
- Upper Goblin lair set to playercreeps
- Prevent AI from Attacking and capturing a building at the same time.

Questions:
- Should I have WotR era factions have CaH and Arnor and Angmar not? (There are only 8 options for factions to have CaHs currently)
- In general, are structures too weak?
- Do you want a swap command to switch pikes and swords positions when grouped?
- Should the CaH troops come from the faction that you play or the type of hero. (Should a Captain of Gondor summon Gondor troops when you play them as elves?)

Well, RJ, here are my answers to your questions.
#1. Yes, this way the WotR system will be CaH and new Inn system for Gondor, Rohan, Elves, Dwarves, Mordor, Isengard, Goblins, and Men of the Deserts to maintain WotR authencity.
#2. It depends, what's the stats of each structure-type. Fortress? No. Others? Hmmm........
#3. Toggling-jobs combo battalions sounds exciting, but not everyone can combine any same-size groupings they'd like to choose.
#4. Absolutely, but only if all CaH's have the ability to call reinforcements from their culture.
There's my advice for you... Mr. KP
