This is where we can discuss GAMEPLAY and TACTICS of SEE =)
(Don't post anything else then that in here = no sugestions and such, only gameplay) ;)
/Naz

Just some fun I was having with my first skirmish...

screenie

I must be a horrible player, the skirmish is set to easy and I still haven't won yet! Stupid battle towers... I suppose 3 or 4 Gronds could take care of it! :)

You had all that... on your team... and on Easy... and you didn't win? :p ;)

Well, not yet... Guess I need to make a bunch of catapults to take care of the battle towers. I'll be playing later on today. What the heck am I doing wrong? Gondor takes everyone I send to their camp out with fire arrows, including Grond (health was down to half before he got two swings on the fortress), the battle trolls, and the Mumaks. I'm not very good, but at least I have fun.;)

[Edit] BTW, their fortress has the Ring. Does that make it stronger in addition to giving them ring heroes? I don't seem to be allowed to recruit any heroes either, even though the enemy was sending Faramirs, Eomers, and Eowyns galore at me.

no, the only benefit the ring gives is a ring hero. however, there have been discussions on whether the ring will give new/other advantages to the carrier in later versions. ;)

What you need is SIEGE!
In other words - catapults!
Don't send Grond unprotected/only! It's a HUGE target and the enemy will concentrate fire upon it! Send it in after you take down the Towers with ranged attacks =)

Ok, so lots of catapults, a few attack trolls, Grond, and maybe a few Mumakil? Perhaps also some easterling archers for fire support... Hopefully I can do it all with 1,000 CPs, I didn't know I could adjust that before I started the skirmish. Their base is also within range of my second fortress' gorgoroth spire, so that should help. :thumbsupsmiley:

[Edit] Thanks for the thread, I need it!

And orcs...lol? Seriously, use them as a meat shield, while your heroes take out the units and your siege/monsters the buildings.

It seems to be working now for whatever reason. I think I'm ready to attack now...

[Edit] It took rebuilding Grond, a small second wave of attack trolls with some archers backing them up, and reviving ALL of my heroes, but I finally won! I hate to see what the game is like on hard...

Nazgul was right, I had to learn to use my siege weapons, plus at the time I had no heroes. Anyway, I've since played a medium skirmish on the Black Gate map against Isengard. It couldn't have been easier to beat them. Catapult expansions on my fortress kept the enemy away from my walls, and basically I just fended them off until I had the nine and enough power points to buy the balrog. Game over at that point! :p I have to admit though, the AI did have me on my toes most of the time while my base was building up. I was training units as fast as the buildings could spit them out!

I thought you said AI didn't build walls... I was just playing Isengard .vs Men on hard, and Men definitely built some walls. They didn't encompass the camp, mind you, but they were there.

Thanks to your help I don't feel like a noob anymore, I soundly beat a hard army! ;) Perhaps I'll even try a skirmish on brutal sometime... :p

[Edit] You can see the enemy's wall in the mini-map in my screenshot.

beware of brutal; since the ai gets a lot of cheats on brutal, you will have a bunch of heroes in your camp too soon. i learned that the hard way against the elves, the faction with most heroes. :p but once you kill that first wave of heroes, it's not too hard.

Hehe yes, the biggest difference for Brutal is that the cost for the AI is lowered by 50% (in SEE) =)

Note to self: When playing good against evil, set evil armies to Brutal. I just played, but Isengard and Mordor were already gone before I even felt the need to attack! :p

I just finished playong my first match against brutal and all i can really say
is that they have the right name. :mad2: :thumbsupdrool: :evgr: :thumbsupdrool:
I was playing as elves :thumbsupdrool: agains mordor and basicly as soon as i had got Glorfindel
and a couple of archer battalions i was set upon by the nine nazgul. I guess i was luck i had good old
Glorifindle or id have been toast. My fortress and other buildings kept the king busy while my archers
in conjunction with my hero tokk out the rest...slowly. After kiling the nuzgul Glorifindle was lv 7
so he could hold enemies . So i built noldors and helms deep veterans ents got some decent powers and walked into their base. After using flood and various other summoning spells their fortress finally fell and the orcs that were coming out of every barracks kinda gave up. anyway it was intense
but i won yey
