Above all it would be hard to make it look, uhm, relistic.. since it would need to be pretty subtle. People don't bleed in reality as they do on film where blood squirts out of bodies several feet away, like a "high pressure washing machine" (don't know what those are called in english). So I'm not against the basic thought per sé, but rather the work of making it look good and "realistic"
just thought id say that you'd be amazed at how much blood can come out if you cut an artery like in the neck or leg and how it can actually squirt out a bit as its under pressure. also i think that little amounts of blood can look good but its not really a nesesity and doesnt add much visual effect to the game, however, having arms and heads flying off would be AWESOME

Hehe yeah but I meant those movies where ppl fly backwards from hits from fire arms (nothing happens irl, bullet hits and you fall down, not backwards) and in these movies ppl usually slash someone with a knife and it gushes like 50 pints of blood in a 10 feet beam... lol

That's why I think there should be no blood in the game, too.
I saw it in Elvenstar I and it just looked funny
I had to laugh all the time, when my hero got attacked and tons of blood appeared, everything went red, but my hero still had most of his health
It just looks silly...

I'm glad you said it...
It's be a shame if a LoTR video game formed from a lifelong effort of writings was morphed into one of those kiddie video games.

1) There's no blood to speak of in the movie except some details like Theoden's mouth after deadly wounded by the WK's Fell and minor things such as dark orc blood in quick glimpses (I think). But nowhere is there any major "gushing" going on, even if it realistically should have been =p
2) It's very hard to make blood in a RTS game look good, and if it doesn't look good (realistic in color and amount and so on) it just makes the game silly
