I think the helmets would work along the best because like _Haldir_ said they have Horse Manes. Plus I really like their Armor style and Cloaks :p

nah, the helmets aren't really that cool, because they're barely there.. you can see the hair beneath :p

I haven't gotten to the mane in the WIP screenshot, but I was going to have it ;)

The concept is promising but honestly, I don't think the surcoat-over-mail look is fitting for a king of Rohan. The distinctive appearance of Rohirric nobility came from their plate curisasses faced with leather, which the nobility exclusively were able to afford.

Also the intricate Rohirric designs. All their armour had various horse designs worked into them. This concept is lacking that.Find a way to incorporate it..

You're being rather demanding Kwen :p

Yes, I thought about the plated armour for him, and was originally planning to do that, but changed my mind when I saw that picture I provided.
However, one of the reasons why I don't really like him anymore, is because it doesn't make him look royal at all :p

And Kwen, once ag'en, I haven't gotten to that part yet. Had to have the basics layered out first so I wouldn't work my ass of for a faulty concept (so in a way, it's good there's hardly Rohirric stuff there)

Wasn't trying to sound demanding :p Just saying that it was an important part of Rohan's Royalty Armor..

I think the surcoat and mail could look royal if you just make some changes. If you give him a maned helmet and a robe, he would look much more important. And if you then skin the surcoat with some sort of intricate rohan design, it would much more kinglike. And again, maybe change his colour scheme, as green is quite a passive looking colour, whereas red/brown/orange would be much more royal looking :p

Another (amazingly unrelated to that earlier picture) example of what he could be made to look like.
Note the robes, which always makes units look important.

I think the concept you're using is pretty ordinary looking and more like a regular infantry unit, which is probably why your model isn't very kingly. You could always just start again with a better, more royal concept, and use the model you've done for a different hero/unit.

If they still don't help, try looking more at Saxon, Scandinavian, Viking, Sarmatian and Germanic armor, rather than medieval English/French armor (as Rohan is more rustic looking than the highly crafted Gondor armor) :p

Well, thanks for the input all :trev:

I scratched the idea of 100% scratch skin, and decided to get some outside chainmaile and a face, and a couple of other minor details. Not to much, but the chainmail is pretty much used as you'll see :p

Anyways, that's basically what he'll look like for now. I'll probably never change him, as I quite like it, despite the chaos and hell on the vembraces and the feet armour.. :p
I might change the shield sometime if I eventually don't like it's abnormal look, but we'll see.. Only thing left is his horse which will get some attention.

It's a nice model and skin but...I just doesn't seem to fit with the visual theme of Rohan's nobility. It would look great in some sort of household guard type unit, but I think the Rohirrim would protect their king with something a bit more...substantial than an ordinary chainmaile shirt.

It's the kings decision to wear that. End of story :p

I think a real king would choose function over fancy. So I suppose I was wrong, no need to incorporate too many designs, simplicity can win too.

Oh, you're probably right about having much incorporated into the armour\cloth, but I'm simply not good enough to do it well. WETA haven't done anything for the fancy part, even though the details they've made are awesome :p

And remember kids, chainmaile is good armour.

Yeah, Eomer and Theoden both wore chain mail with plate curiasses and pauldrons for extra protection. I respect that it's your mod and your decision, I just think it's a silly change in design.

Okay, so I'll let you all in on a little secret..

First, this is 230 years after the War of the Ring, so I feel I'm pretty free at changing designs around, for better or for worse, if I want. Of course, compared to real history, 200 years can change nothing or everything and all in between.
Second, Rohan has 5 heroes in my mod. One with a plated cuirass, one Royal Guard, one dwarf with platemail, and Feothan. As you can see, he's simply a badly done rip-off. (can't believe I haven't change the chainmail...)
I kinda wanted the king to be in the area of Theoden in terms of armour, but it would've been another rip-off. I simply don't have the skill to make something in that detail. Believe me, I tried, a long time ago when I was still skinning activly. I think the King looks Rohirric enough now, so he'll stay that way.
Yes he's not as armoured as he could be, but he'll mostly be a mounted hero, and lighter armour is his choice. I want him to be a hell of a fighter.

Now, in the voice of The White Wizard: He'll have "custom" animations... does that comfort you? :p
And Yarrum.. I don't see what the word "silly" has to do with it. Weird, or stupid, I could've taken, but silly?

I like it :p He will be smaller and harder to see in-game anyway, so it's pointless being too padantic about it.

The only thing i could say is the cape looks a lot brighter red than his surcoat, though it could be the lighting of the picture.
