The scout paused to catch breath. Slowly he crawled a bit further, biting his lip to not shout from pain. Several hundred meters in front of him he saw something. He put his radio transmitter away and grabbed his binoculars. His knee trembled for a second and he used his hands to prevent him from getting even more hurt. He put the binoculars in front of his eyes and could not really believe what he saw.
He could distinguish a big green sphere, with some darker coloured.. what were it, tubes? around it. He took the radio transmitter in his other hand.
"Scout 214 reporting. Immediate message. Unknown object sighted, several hundred meters from coordinates 23-41." He coughed again."Purpose unknown. Threat level unknown. Big green sphere on top, surrounded by several darker coloured tube like objects. The structure appears symmetrical, four legs with glowing green liquid visible. I can't totally make it out, it's somewhat dark here. I repeat: Unknown structure sighted. Purpose unknown. Possible treat. Several hundred meters from 23-41. Big green sphere on top."
Breathing became harder now, and his sensors indicated the air was not the most healthy air one could wish for. He stopped talking for a moment and looked at his leg. Oh boy, that didn't look healthy.. He coughed and noticed he tasted blood.
"I won't hold out here much longer. I'm transmitting a visual image." He pressed some buttons on his binoculars and the radio transmitter. "It's been a pleasure to serve. Tell everyone.." he breathed heavily now. "Give everyone my thanks and wishes."
He put the radio transmitter away and lied down. Breathing heavily he look up at the sky above, realising that this was it. He closed his eyes, knowing that his 'discovery' may help his commanders.
