((OOC: War_Angel doesn't seem to be here and I'd rather he didn't miss the convoy so I'll just do this for him.))
"Yeah, motherfuckers!" he cried, exultant in the carnage his faithful shotgun was causing. He jogged backwards, easily outpacing the shamblers, and gradually taking a large loop back around to the camp. It was not until he heard the revving of engines and intensified gunfire that he began to become a little worried.
"Hey, guys!" he yelled over his shoulder as he loosed another blast. He didn't get any response when he tried again, so decided he should probably high-tail it back there pretty damn quick.
"All right then, bitches!" he muttered, turning back to the pack of infected. "Time to die, motherfuc-"
Silva plummeted to the ground, hard, knocking the breath from his lungs. He gasped and choked, and in the relative silence heard a shout drifting in on the wind.
"Dammit, Silva, get back to the convoy!"
He tried to respond, but just croaked out some air. Clawing himself upright, he found that his right arm was bleeding profusely, and swore. He glanced up, checking which direction the rest of the groups gunfire was coming from. And found himself face to face with an undead.
"Whoa, fuck!" he cried, throwing himself back. A quick shotgun blast turned the lurching infected into so much viscera, but it was far too close for comfort. Silva jumped to his feet, and sprinted back to the camp.

Darkman dropped the his empty shotgun and leaned against the cab of the F - 150. He looked around, for a moment, seeing the horde still emerging from the bushes and promptly having their heads shattered. With a grunt he moved forwards onto his knees and took the M1 off his shoulders.
Well, it's been a bit friend.
A certain calmness came to him as he felt the farmiliarity of the weapon. He swung the sights up so the head of a shambler sat perfectly in the circle, with the W of of the front sight obscuring her blank expression. He quickly fired off a round, exploding the creature's head. Leaning further forwards, he simply repeated again and again, sometimes on animals, sometimes on humans. Still, the circle was closing. The creatures were getting farther and farther past the bush. With a kick, the truck began vibrating under him. But where the hell was Silva?
This is the place where all the junkies go, where time gets fast but everything gets slow.

Ryn ran back around the truck from his shooting position and hopped into the back of the 'hitched' van. With the butt of his gun, he broke out the windows for firing holes.
He didn't want to wait much longer. "We need to get going! C'Mon! Get in!"
From the opened windows, he began to fire. His hollow tipped bullets were causing all sorts of carnage - just hitting a body cavity made limbs fly off. "Where are the new guys?"

He swung around and blasted a shot straight into something's face, he ran forward towards the truck and called out,
"I'm back - Lets go!"
He hopped into the back truck, dropping his shotgun on the floor of the van and drawing his pistol; it would be easier to use with one hand. He began dropping the infected with double taps to the head - tried, tested and lethal. He would have grinned, but the pain in his arm suddenly flared again, so instead he asked,
"Hey, anyone got a bandage or summin'?"

"Here, I can bandage it up if you want, but I'm a little rusty, you might want someone else to help." Turning to the driver Jamie called out. "Hey, where are we going?"

"Allright John, rev her up!" called Dean as Silva crashed through the horde. The soldier dutifully gunned the engines, and the truck began to pull away. In the bright white light cast by the flares, Dean could see the infected's very faces, groaning, grimacing, decaying. And he could see the first slants of rain that without warning began to fall to the ground. As the trucks squealed through the mud, dodging the fallen Jeep, the flares were put out by the cold rain, and in the darkness, only the moans of the dead could be heard. Those, and the terrifying howl that rose over the gunfire, over the engines, over the now hammering rain. It sent shivers down the spine.
Dean heard Titus muttering somewhere in the truck. "I know that sound..." he growled, "That's the thing that took Gary..."
Dean had no idea who Gary was or what the thing was, but the very mention scared him to the core.
"Hey John!" he called, his voice betraying the fear he felt, "Let's move this thing!"

And in the darkness stood the Screamer. It was not the one who had taken Gary. No, it was something far worse. And as it stood, heavy shoulders heaving up and down, rain beating down upon it's hulking form, it saw the fleeing humans, and it knew. It knew where they would run, and it knew how to get them. It knew their darkest fears and desires. It knew every waking thought that they had had in the last three hours. Though it could never put any of this into words, it knew, and the knowledge would rest within it until even the chilly grasp of undeath had been wrested from it.
The Screamer stood, and watched it's prey escape. It would not do so again.

As Titus pulled a sandwich out from the cooler and began to devour it, a thought popped into his head, sort of like a sports ticker: Dude, Gary, when I find the fucker who nabbed you, it's getting three shells and a punch to the face.

"So guys, were are we heading? I mean theres loads of places we could go, whats the programme?"
((OOC: It's important to give a car journey a definite end, as there is only one driver, and saying "he drove along" over and over slows it down, so i'm voting timeskip to end of car journey))

"We're heading to the Military base in the hills, they'll have food, water, weapons, everything. It's been a while since I was there last, and they probably think I'm dead. We just have to get there before the infected do."

It was a tiny orange stain on the horizon, in the direction of the base. John had been in enough live-fire exercises to know what that meant - something was burning.
"Oh, shit..."
As they approached the base, John saw things for what they were. He was wide awake now, and he quickly figured out what must have happened. The base was a wreck, a collection of the burnt-out shells of buildings, except for the perimeter fence and gates which still stood. The place must have been attacked - not long ago by the looks of things - and the defenders overrun. The last survivors must have activated some large explosive charge in the centre of the HQ building, a deduction evidenced by the large amounts of rubble and bloody viscera sprayed around the complex. The fire that he had seen was a huge tyre-fire, presumably lit as a beacon in some vain hope of evacuation. It was still burning several days after the events that had conspired here, but thankfully, none of the undead had deemed it worth investigating yet.
John pulled up the truck slowly and got out. Leaning back on the door, he surveyed the scene with a grim eye, and sighed. He had seen far too much death to be truly saddened, but he nevertheless felt the loss of his comrades weighing upon him.
But, he thought, there was still hope. He remembered that everything in the armoury had been stored in giant blast-proof boxes, and stored they still were, presumably. John could see some of the crates poking coyly from the rubble. And at least the bases supply of vehicles was still sound...
He nodded to himself, then turned and began to rouse the others.

"what?" he said, as Lenny look at him funny, "i was trying to make myself wake up, ok?" Kelvin walked forward, pulling out his gun "oh wait.. ammo" and he ran back to the jeep, pulling out his bag, loading his gun, and slinging the pack over his back
"anyone want some food?" he grabbed out some more junk food, his stash was still half full. Boo stired at the word food, poking his head out of Kelvins pocket
Kelvin chuckled handing the hamster a peanut.
he looked around, "what a mess, there goes any hope of a rescue, where to first?" he put his hand into the packet of peanuts, eating a handful....

"A large personnel carrier to take all of us would be great, less people to sort out, and explosive weapons to keep on it, as well as much food as we could find would be great." He paused a second, and took more stock of his surroundings,
"In other news, this place gives me the creeps."

He looked around the base, and then at the carppy excuse for a pistol he had in his waistband, "i dunno' about you guys, but im hoping for some new weapons, and maybe a jeep with a mounted gun?!" he looked around at he group,
"to follow up the APC, good for a bit of cover" he looked at the blank looks around him, but with the odd person he could tell they agreed,
"Well then john, shall we, you know where you're going,"
((seriously, i want some new guns, and the gun jeep would be a good idea))
