Chapter 2: The Story Continues

Just what we needed.
"Well, good luck finding a vehicle, I don't think much would be left here. Any still functioning would probably have been taken by the soldiers, and by the look of this" - Darkman gestured towards the general carnage around them - "I'm gonna say there was no way out for these poor bastards."
He stepped gingerly over the chewed up and shot to pieces remains of a soldier, grimacing with distaste at the spectacle. There was time where he would probably have starting vomiting at the sight of that, he thought with a bit of amusement. Now he'd been responsible for it plenty of times.
"You think there's any chance there'd be any food around?" Darkman asked Doe. Noticing some movement, Darkman finished off half a shambler that was dragging itself across the field. After that, the only movement was the flickering of the fire.
This is the place where all the junkies go, where time gets fast but everything gets slow.

He finally climbed out of the truck, shotgun in tow, praying that the motor pool and its stockpile of tools were still in one piece. He needed to start making a new set of tools, to keep up anything that might need his magic touch.
OLD SIG
When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself,
first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.

"its not a nice place any more boo...", he said sighing.
"well, lets get too it, the sooner we get through here, the sooner we can get a move on... there might even be a few survivors", Kelvin looked at the group...

"How's Helena?" asked Carl, wheezing slightly as he hefted a huge chunk of building.
Dean's face, if it was possible, seemed to fall further at the mention of his friend. "She's OK...still breathing, at least."
Carl grunted in return - he had never considered himself any good at this consoling business - and carried on shifting rubble. Soon, the two men had successfully dislodged enough to free one of the large green crates. They quickly did so, and dragged it out onto the blackened grass nearby. Dean borrowed Titus' crowbar and, after a moment's struggling, threw open the cache.
Carl leaned over, peering into the gloomy cavity. A slow grin spread across his rugged features, and he called out.
"Hey guys!" he paused, lacking a suitably catchy phrase, "Er...come get some guns!"

FZM and Vort don't do tag wrestling...but if they did, they'd probably be the worst tag-wrestlers in the world.

Ryn looked around at the scrapped, demolished, ruined base. And then he got an idea.
"Hey, John," he called, "Where would I be able to find something along the lines of an attack helicopter or something? I've got an idea..."
And then he looked to Titus for the mechanical know-how he would need to get this idea done. "Titus, I have a lean-mean-undead-fighting machine plan I'd like to carry out, but I'm going to need your help to git er done. Can you help me out?"
And he was going to need another helping hand to carry materials... "Hey, uh, Silva, can you give me a hand? I'm gonna need some help carrying stuff."
((For those who don't know - my plan is to convert the VW that's pseudo-hitched into a gun platform by keeping the roof and chopping out most of the sides and then reinforcing the supports that are left. We can then use the floor to store stuff, and whatever space is still in the pickup to store more stuff.))

"We didn't have any helicopters. Had Strykers, Humvees, and APC's though. Check the motor pool to see if there's anything you need. I'm gonna search through the ruins here for a map or something."

(OOC: I already had this planned, with the original plan of the 'Improvised APC' idea I had gotten from Dawn of the Dead. Thanks for bringing it back to the forefront of my mind. )

He heard a call from behind him he turned around to see Ryn beckoning him over. He jogged towards him, "a gun jeep, sounds like my kinda ride," he looked at the browning .50 cal laying on the floor, "oh i call the browning!"

he was trying to hack into the bases security networks, with the infection going on there would be no monitors watching for a hacker, so he could, if he got through the automatic security, get whatever he wanted
"Yes!" he said triumphantly, he had got past the low level counter hacking measures...

so even if every computer here was destroyed, you could still get at the military data, i was planning on saying i get a map, but that it doesn't have much detail, then as we explore the base i was going to have it that i find a computer still intact (screen and keyboard and stuff broken, but the actual box still working), then i plug in and get all the info we can about the place (eg, where stores of stuff are, any logs of what happened / possibly if any survivors fled, detailed maps and stuff) then we go onto whatever we are doing next))

He dumped everything out of the hiker's backpack he had grabbed a while ago and made off towards the gun-and-ammo area. "Silva, come gimme a hand," he said.
Inside he found loads of .50 cal belt-fed ammo boxes. And in the corner, a crate filled with more. Ryn scooped up the loose belt boxes and put them into the backpack. "Hey, uh, Silva, don't mean to be a bother, but could you be one hell of a pal and start dragging that crate back towards the van for me? I gotta find a plasma cutter. And some sort of welder."
Ryn walked off to the auto-shop to find the torches he needed.

He went back over to Ryn to see if he could help with anything else, this could end up being quite fun he said to himslef, as he glanced back at the browning laying on the floor!

"hey guys, i have a satellite map!" he called out to everyone, the quality wasn't great, but at least they could see the layout of the area
"but i cant do much more unless i find a military computer, and by the looks of it there wont be many left in tact...
if i can find one though i could get us a detailed map of this base, maybe a message from any survivors, and other useful information, like maybe secret bunkers or whatever, what do you say? should we look for one, i know your all working on the 'Battle Bus', but if you take some time out and help me with this we could probably find out where allot more stuff is..."
kelvin looked at the group, waiting for their answer...

Well, it's something to do and somehow I don't think he'll be able to defend himself on his own.
"Yeah sure, I'm in. Grab a good gun first. Anyone else coming?" Darkman checked to make sure his numerous weapons were fully loaded. Glancing into the weapons crate, he tossed off his Nova and took a Mossberg 590 in it's stead. He grinned slightly at the menacing noise it made when he pumped it.

"Let's get to it!"
He got Silva to help him lift the Browning onto the van, and started hooking up the welder. Get the .50 cal on first, cut everything out later, those were his priorities
