Porn is sickening, yet I too have these animal drifts to watch it sometime to get off - in that sense better then for people that can't get sex to tear apart a innocent woman.

But what if it is indeed porn that keeps us under control? In my opinion porn corrupts the mind, taints the meaning of making love, turning us all into the lustful animals that we are if we don't keep ourselves under control.

I hate you for saying a fundamental truth. In they end wanting to have sex is indeed caused by hormones and reactions in our brain.Dude...the true meaning of making love? You wanna know what that is? Spreading our DNA man, there's nothing more to it. Love in a romantic sense is realistically indistinguishable from lust, they're just the reactions from the parts of our brain which demand we reproduce.
But that doesn't mean that the feeling of love and lust are the same. As is the deed of sex or love making.
Lust is emotionless/loveless no-strings-attached desire to physical satisfaction. One night stands. Porn tickles that part of our brain - the animal lust.
Love is (rather unexplainable) a bonding with a person, strings-attached desire to physical satisfaction. Relationships. Its love from both ends that causes making love.
To me it is anyways...

Why is that necessarily such a bad thing? Denying your own impulses is a bit, uh...In my opinion porn corrupts the mind, taints the meaning of making love, turning us all into the lustful animals that we are if we don't keep ourselves under control.
It's perfectly natural to have these urges. Otherwise we wouldn't have them.
How exactly does porn corrupt the mind? It's imagery of the opposite sex, or of sex itself. It's likely very little different than what goes on when you yourself have sex, except different people involved.
The only thing that makes you lose control of your urges is you. You aren't going to go raping because you have (or haven't) watched a porno or had sex in the past month. You went for all those years before you became sexually active. I think you can manage not getting any for a bit.
A bit of lust doesn't hurt anyone. You sound as if you and your girlfriend have never been lustful. Lol.
Most definitely. Although you imply that lust is some urge that will drive all guys to do that.Porn is sickening, yet I too have these animal drifts to watch it sometime to get off - in that sense better then for people that can't get sex to tear apart a innocent woman.
I don't agree. Lust is purely a desire to have sex. This, yes, is partly the need to spread our DNA, although we do commonly have sex purely because it feels good when we do. While I concur it may form a part of romantic love, it isn't the whole of it.Dude...the true meaning of making love? You wanna know what that is? Spreading our DNA man, there's nothing more to it. That as may be, but is it so wrong that we want those things? Or are you going to begin flagellating just because you feel sinful?I hate you for saying a fundamental truth. In they end wanting to have sex is indeed caused by hormones and reactions in our brain.
That sounds more like the argument I subscribe to. But I don't see how love and lust must be completely discrete of eachother - have you never felt a pressing need to have sex with your girlfriend? Call it feeling horny if you want. You love someone, but love alone doesn't make one want to have sex with another. Love is a satisfaction at a more mental level, whereas sex/lust is a satisfaction at a more base level. If two lovers are to satisfy eachother at both levels, then both love and lust are involved in that, IMO. Both may be satisfied at the same time. One might have sex because one loves someone, but there must be an element of lust there, or else the motivation to have sex may not be there. But that doesn't mean that the feeling of love and lust are the same. As is the deed of sex or love making.

I prefer corn.
Another rare Medelmonkey sighting!!
Anyway...
Porn is a simple, yet effective way for a man to temporarlily get rid of any sexual urges he has, considering he masturbates to it.
You can never remove the sex drive that humans have. You can never get rid of the sexual thoughts a human has. They think about sex 24/7, and watching other people have sex has always been a fascination for humans.

Women have urges too. And just because they're women doesn't make it so they are unable (or not allowed) to satisfy them by other means than full intercourse...

it comes in different shapes and forms
extreme, bondage, rape type stuff is what corrupts the mind
it also kinda makes a guy look like a simpleton e.g. he says he is clever but he can't control some hormonal urges and makes us treat the opposite object like a toy/item
besides sex is used for too much $$$ nowadays, even more then in the past.

Not just men watch porn, and nor is porn tailored exclusively to men...

Indeed, but the magority of porn watchers would be men, im guessing. and I know some couples also watch it to.
But a lot of women shun the idea of masturbating and watching porn.

That may be true (can't say), but in any case, i reckon a woman's urge for sexual fulfillment is not far away from that of a man (on average). And while some may shun the idea of being inspired by porn whatever the reason, i can't see anyone shun the idea of masturbation, except for those people (man or woman) on a trip of self denial.

Spreading DNA is sooo longterm, i can't think of any reason other than a single one why that should have influence on your sexual urges and lust. That's two almost entirely seperate things.
One is getting off (and getting there).
Two is creating your own legacy (which you can also do in non sexual ways, as long as they are acceptable).
The combination, SEX-->PROCREATION, would be one that incidentally has a very high species survival value, which is why we are here.
When you are actually in the mood for sex (horny that is), i find it rather distracting to think about offspring. Since that is sometimes a necessity, especially if you are trying NOT to have them in that one particular case, i have some personal proof that the two really are seperate. And in a situation where having offspring is a desired outcome, the possibly resulting increase in enjoying the encounter at hand would have more to do with the absence of worrying about making children in the first place!
It's a bit like the workings of S&M-lust. The (apparent) loss of responsibility when you are bound/commandeered by someone else is equivalent to the lack of worrying about possible results of having sex. You can focus entirely on what you enjoy, be it your own lust or personifying with the lust of a partner or both. There are so many ways to feel lust, so many ways to have sex with or without others, but basically only one way to procreate. No way these two things correlate at all, positive or negative.

A lot of the girls I know get grossed out by the thought of masturbation. A very small portion of them have addmitted to trying it, but wouldn't do it again.
Of course this can't be used as proof for the wider female population, but it's something to go by.

Just like I can not say they don't.
But the fact that they could be hiding something shows they are ashamed and feel "dirty". This says to me that they would not be fond of masturbating regularly and it would be almost regretted when they have.
But I'm thinking that because as a guy, I have no problem in addmitting I masturbate, and I don't feel dirty or embarrsed or ashamed.

If you think that's funny about prostitution being illegal, think of this...Why is being naked a crime really? Aren't you simply in you're natural form? Since when is the natural human form against the law?
Why can a woman perform sex for money in front of a camera, and it's called art or porn, and is legal. Yet if this same woman performed sex for money with no camera, is called prostitution, which is illegal? It's her body right? Same reason abortion is legal.
Seems to me, that if the camera is rolling, than it's not prostituion?
Hyprocritical IMO. ~Hostile
oooo, that's a good one. I've never bothered to even think about that before. I think I'm going to have to explore just what makes the difference between pornography and prostitution.
Why is it illegal to sell something that is perfectly legal to give away for free?
Because it's open source / general public license
