Well I mostly don't like the fort because it is crowded. I don't like the barracks because where the units are seems too small. The well specifically because you are unable to actually reach the well.

I liked the fort idea a lot. What I'd do is have a circular wooden platform at the centre instead of just trees, maybe? It could be a place for an upgrade to go. And the leaves would be green.

This is totally going to make me play the Elves more. I looked through the new fortress and it looks GREAT. Lothlorien is going to be kicking some ass. I always thought the fortress should be more like a tree instead of a castle, like everyone else had. I just have a few questions.

1.) What is this going to be like on the BFME-1 Revisited maps? Will the fortress tree be in the center of the walls, or how will that work, since the tree is quite large? It'd go well with the buildplots, but the new fortress is pretty big...it wouldn't leave much room to do anything.

2.) Will the new fortress have revealed-damage as it takes hits? Would the branches fall off and what-not? And it would be weird for the center of the tree to take damage while all of the expansions stay green and full of life. I'm sure this is stuff you guys have thought about before though.

3.) And finally. What about Mirkwood and Rivendell? Will they also use tree-like fortresses? I don't think they should, personally, since the Elves in Rivendell at least obviously make their homes in stone and wood buildings on the ground, like the House of Elrond. Not too sure about the Mirkwood Elves though...did they make buildings in trees? Its been long, long years since I read The Hobbit last.

Let me just add that this all looks amazing, and I honestly can't wait to play it. C'mon 1.06! :D And as always, keep up the EXCELLENT work! Doing great.

'The Twilight of Man is nigh, and coming ever closer. The days have shortened into cold, forlorn darkness and sunrise to sundown is a bitter struggle for survival. But do not think for a moment that we shall not fight. We shall not go quietly into the dusk. We shall not throw down arms and flee, or surrender. We will go on, we will not falter. And even should we die, we shall make an end that will be remembered for thousands of years. For beautiful Arnor that is, for glorious Númenor that was! We are the Dúnedain, we are the Men of the North, and our foes will remember our steel!'

Wow Nethelen Narcu, I have to say that your concepts are some of the best I've seen :thumbsupsmiley: I think that sometimes people forget that this is a stealth faction, and that they would just build huts on rocks, but would have trees and shrubs everywhere, even the other elves are said to have made roads a certain way as to avoid damaging a tree, so I'm sure in Mirkwood there would be trees everywhere.

Celeborn's hair colour is only visual, and possibly a quick change, yes. The necessity of it being done, unlikely at this point. It is a trivial matter, not on that will mess up how the mod works.

No it isn't, besides I don't use Celeborn that often. Besides there was the dyeing of Gloin's beard from white to ginger, that's a lot worse.
I will remember Rhovanion Alliance, RIP .

Yes Nethelen...Those are good, they remind us that mirkwood elves were quite different from the others...Rivendell had a large city, and Lothlorien, besides from some watchtowers in the trees, had a big city hidden somewhere in the forest (they are the halfway point between Rivendell and Mirkwood somehow)
Anyway, keep up coming with stuff like that, but I must tell u, try to visualize what you want first, don't "toss" (like Mike said) objects all at once. Like the unit producing building, the lined bushes look as if it was a Men's city, try putting less bushes and more random, not in a line.
The cave like theme is good! the fortress is good also, but I think that, at first, it should have less accesories and look more than a tree...then u upgrade and it gets more complex. What do you think guys?

Edit: i've just thought of a good idea while looking at the whole post...Some buildings, (like the well or the statue that buffs units) should be made a little smaller and attached with a big tree next to them. That way, the more wells and statues (cant remember their name lol) you build your city looks more forest-like... I think this would be cool considering you cant build in the grove.
Any thoughts?

I like Nethelen's concepts quite a bit, I think they fit Mirkwood nicely, they could be a great starting point to create some original model (no, don't look this way, I can't do anything, I'm useless! ) however, I envision Mirkwood's fortress more like a hill covered in trees (I think Mike posted a concept of a hill-like fortress).

I don't really like the concept of the Well, I believe that an Elvish Banquet would be better; it would be a (small) table with some trees (with torches) around it. It would be nice if the Banquet could have a power (with a long recharging time) that allows the player to reposition it to another point on the map. It's just an idea, I do not know if it is possible to do or what is the amount of work required to obtain a similar effect, I just think it would be nice and respectful of the lore (think about Thorin & Co.).

Thank you for your attention and sorry for any error in spelling or grammar, but English isn't my native language. ;)

Okay this is what I mean with the forest like idea...I like the tables idea, that would be great for rivendel....Look!

Mirkwood well (Not 100 per cent accurate, tree should be greener and fountain smaller)
Posted Image

Then, this would be their heroic statue:
Posted Image

Their watch towers would be great if u could get some archers in them and actually see them in the small catwalks around the tree (dunno if u understand what I mean)

The table idea is great, I think you should model THIS adding the table in the middle. It would be awesome for rivendel:

In the books said they used to have big meals in rivendel...and that structure is really nice, it real fits

^^ this suits each races better I think
