The GC (excluding Shadow Hand and Thrawn) takes place 18bby right? That's pretty much where the last of the prequels left of, the clonewar is over, the empire has just been founded and the rebels are taking their first steps. First thing; the empire would be sitting with a shit load of Clonewars equipment, AT-TEs, AT-RTs, AT-PTs, LAAT/is etc. as well as still having at least most of the clone troopers from the Grand Army of the Republic.

That's the idea, yes. The 19-year gap between trilogies - which has very little information on it - is huge and the transition generally isn't going to be abrupt. The Clone Troopers were reorganized as Stormtroopers with the Declaration of a New Order, so you won't see them at all, but it's not unreasonable to expect some of the heavier equipment to stick around for a while.

There are couple of comic books and one novel (Dark Lord Rising) which you might want to look at. I have DLR, but I won't be able to read it anytime soon :(

Isn't the 501st Stormtrooper Legion, Vader's Fist, made entirely of clonetroopers?

Yeah, admittedly, I'm not exactly up to speed on the Clone Wars-era EU stuff. I've read the Solo Trilogy, for example, but really not a whole lot of the post-prequel books. Hopefully TFU and the live-action TV series will fill in some of the gaps.

Vader's Fist was made up of prime clones (as were all of the original Stormtroopers), but by 18 BBY they would've been Stormtroopers. The Corps as a whole gradually got diluted by lesser-stock clones and eventually, open recruitment, but I believe the 501st remained wholly Jango.

Would it be possible to give the Empire a Defiler type unit that's called Imperial Operative?
They could be used to aquire slaves or cause riots on Rebellion worlds that can destroy a bulding or some units.

No, that's not very imperial-ish.

I'm not sure you can even use the corruption features for another faction. And if a planet gets corrupted by two different factions it would probably crash the game.

In any case, it would be much more Rebel-like then Imperial-like...

When the Empire becomes the Imperial Remenant they start using covert tacticts a lot more so maybe as a late game unit.

Maybe a saboteur (just a unit with stealth and bombs), espically for the rebels.

Finished reading that in a book store. XD

Parts of it were pretty good.
But there's just not enough Darth Vader in it.

I'm not sure it would really help with the mod though....

No nice piccies of imp hardware in action?

I know I asked about them but covert units, commandos, saboteurs etc. do seem more rebel than imperial. (why send special forces to blow up say a sensor array when you can just blast it from orbit?) Seeing the films and reading the books the empire is always hugely overpowering in manpower but eventually overcome by small guerilla units. In a way I think it would be a way to bring balance and realism to have less heavy ships and ground units for the rebels but instead have some really powerful spec-ops or minor heroes, preferably adding in a bit of randomness to their success. Say in shadow hand have a 60-75% change Luke will turn back if a specific hero unit is in the same system. Maybe with whatever ship he has being destroyed in the process.. As it is in the comic (Though I have no idea if its possible to have a hero unit turn. It should be in ground combat but otherwise?)

I remember reading that the clones had an accelerated lifespan, assumably killing of the ones who didn't die fighting fairly quickly. Another thing; though really for the rebel ground thread- is there a possibility of a defiler/bounty hunter usable mainly to blow stuff up -thinking of buildings- and kill imp heroes? Kind of like a Rebel terrorist/resistance cell.

what about making AT-STs more canon by giving them multiple weapon systems. rather then just the laser cannons that they start with they can have (probably through upgrades) the option to switch over to like concussion gernade launcher, or blaster cannon for infrany suppression. these two weapons do seem to be pretty common armamernt for at-sts in at least a decent number of sources.

That will probably happen from the start. Still, it seems easy, and they are canon.

i know land is probably still a FAR away goal but i figured i'd and another idea i had while surfing wookieepedia. what about the Chrysalide or X-1 Viper war droids. Don't know if models or anything exist for these gems but the rancor mutants shouldn't be to hard to modify from the original units in games i'd guess. Maybe these things could only be made in the Operation Shadowhand campaign. also the war droid maybe could be only built on Balmorra, along with several other Balmorran Arms droids? just another random idea.

I was thinking of that as well, along with the SD-9s and SD-10s.
