Several reasons, which haved changed over time, and a very long story. Up until recently, I was okay with it, but recently I'm aggressively trying to get myself set up for it. Right now, all I lack is some permission to download and use Hamachi.

You could always play using EA's servers

I've...been able to before. For a while, I just really didn't care about online.

and everyone here seems to prefer Hamachi, as in, every time you say "EA server," it's considered cussing.

The only thing about EA is they changed the way account names are done, and its caused a lot of ruckus. As in, it's now twice as difficult to fix or change things with your old EA account name. Hamachi's uncomplicated, which is why most people prefer it, I think.

my friend finally found his BFMEII disc and code after a few months of it being lost, but because that, he still can't play online :(

Several people here have that same problem. Hamachi bypasses it.

Jeth, if you have Hamachi, why haven't you joined the BON network yet? Well, I have a game replay: Me vs. HunterGXO vs. Jonas. I played as Gondor, and had a Rohan army as my ally, but they weren't any use except as a meat shield. Early in the game I built up a large army of infantry and sent them to Hunter's elven base. Hunter's archers picked off most of them, but I sent in cavalry and heroes to back them up and killed the archers, ransacking his base. Although his knights tried to resist me, I killed them with my heroes. At this time, Sam, who was close to death from the elven lancers, muttered "I'll never see the elves again..." I then proceeded to attack Jonas, breaking his attack on my allies and besieging him for a long time. I lost many troops, but eventually my trebuchets broke through his walls. 4 FU battalions of lv. 10 Rohirrim awaited me within the fortress, and foiled my attacks again and again, aided by a well. However, I persevered and finally destroyed him, although he wiped out two armies with his AotD power. Overall, a good game. The replay is attached.

Ringy beat me last night... but it was only because the Hard Mordor AI spoon-fed him enough exp to get all of his troops to lv. 10 and enough power points to give him the army of the dead when I only had Heal and Elven Allies. Ah well, c'est la vie.
