I would have some thaughts concerning the campaign to propose...
1) there were battles where the evil side was beaten and they were many. BFME 1 evil campaign either changed the outcome (Amon Hen, Helms Deep, Shelob, etc) or ignored these battles (Moria, Eves of Fangorn). The annoying thing about the campaign is that you can't loose. The hobbits escape ? ...never mind, try again, this time you will catch them. I don't know if this point could be fixed and if the campaign could become a bit "dynamic", but one thing certainly can be done : to make battles like Moria even for the evil campaign, but with just minor goals... your goal won't be to catch the Fellowship, kill Aragorn and Frodo and take the ring, nobody wants the game to end with the first battle. Your goal would be to bring in as many goblins as possible, find the Balrog, fight Gandalf... actually only bonus goals. The point is to have a battle in Moria faught from the other side. Your archers wont be match for Legolas, but maybe your cave troll might hit not Frodo and his mithril, but Pipin...
2) as already said in this discussion, if the rohirrim are killed at Helms Deep, they should not appear in front of Minas Tirith, which actually could be the main story line for the evil campaign. I mean, in most of the important battles your goal would be to eliminate a hero, which would change the next important battle, and assure actually the conditions for the evil side to win. To make is as long as possible and as much film like as possible, I would let Frodo pass all dangers, including the Shelob... your goal there would be to kill Sam. With Sam killed, Sauron gets the ring because nobody is coming to save Frodo from Cyrith Ungol... and he meets Aragorn at the Black gate. How to make it... simply make the good side allways win, with allways an important success of the evil side, that would prepare the last victory (and a post-campaign where your huge armies would take one region after another finishing off the rests of the good side forces).
Let's not take the Helms Deep, our goal would only be to breech the walls and the gate and kill Haldir. We know the rohirrim are on their way, Sauron sees them, Saruman knows about them... we have not enough strenght to fight them this time, our goal is to retreat, slow down the rohirrim counter-charge and break off the fight... Helms Deeps is saved... for now, but Saruman's army is not destroyed... that will make Theoden's decision to support Gondor much harder. He will send only a part of his army to Minas Tirith, and that would actually be the time for Saruman to charge him again...
The army of the dead would never come to Minas Tirith if the Uruks would kill Aragorn at Helms Deep. Let's keep him alive, let's give the good side their hope, let's make them save Minas Tirith. We will still have some 2 hours of nice siege battle... and again, Sauron knows Aragons is coming because Saruman's spies followed him to the mountain... again, evil army retreats, after having destroyed the main gate, some of the trebuchets, etc., to prepare the city for the future siege that will come shortly... we still don't have the ring...
This would make the evil campaign much better inspired by the film, by changing not the story line, only significant details, the evil side will "loose" battle after battle, but in fact it only would become stronger and stronger by these "defeats"
What do you think? isn't this idea worthy of Moooordooorr ?

These minicampaigns would be quite short, 3 or 4 battles each. Another minicampaign would be the last battles of the evil campaign where the rests of the good side forces would be destroyed at Minas Tirith, Edoras, Helms Deep, Lorien, Rivendell, Grey Havens... with the task to find and acquire the three rings, analogy to this for the good side would be a minicampaign during which Gondor's rule would be re-established over the lost regions (this minicampaign could start at Bywater).

Sry for bumping an old topic as a newbe in this forum, but is there any possibilty to carry on the campaign with the good faction after you slayed down the scorpion riding king on the high pass? Cause when i want to start the mission where you have to help the dwarves to kill the dragon my game crashes, and the campaign makes a lot of fun to me and it is sad that i cant redo it within the SEE faction
BTW great mod,ive played it in one of the first versions and was very satisfied, but i lost track of the mod...and so much time has gone now...what makes me kinda sad :/ ...but i makes me happy to see the some parts of the com are still alive and developing mods for BFME2 and i hope there will be once upon a time released a 0.47 ....waiting for it (sry for my abd english,im only german :/ )
