I think you'll find that England invented what you refer to as Soccer, but what is in fact known as Football.

And for your specks of truth, I direct you to:

2003 War In Iraq
Vietnam War
USA Public Debt
US Health System ( )
US Health System Political Debate

I could go on. :)

(@Hostile:)

I won't discuss the Cold War stuff any further because that's simply a thing of the last century. If you really want to be paranoid, at least be realistic and be afraid of China or India, for they will most likely be the superpowers of the future. The US and Russia have had their share.

Now, onto the "individual rights" argument. What strikes me funny about it is that the US has such a focus on it economically/socially that poor people have next to no protection and support from the state while the elite does as it pleases. Yet when it comes to topics like "national security" and all that rubbish, the individual rights seem to be completely erased. I could go a lot further with things like Guantanamo, but I think you get the idea.

Religion does it again, Mythology? None of it is real, but you goof-balls seem to believe and LOVE it.

WE goof-balls? You have totally failed to understand what I said there, which was this:

We dislike on principle those who support ridiculous policies such as teaching creationism in Biology lessons instead of as a mythological fable in Religious Education

I said, rather plainly, that none of it is real and should be taught as a fable. You agreed with me, yet insulted me and called me a goof-ball? Therefore, by implication, you are calling yourself a goof-ball as we share the same position on the subject. As for your thing about football, you're a moron. If you can't be bothered to read the Wikipedia page about it that Ash has kindly linked us to, I will quote from it here.

The modern rules of football are based on the mid-19th century efforts to standardise the widely varying forms of football played at the public schools of England.

Quit insulting England. We weren't insulting you, we were saying we dislike people who believe certain things. The same goes for Australian creationists, or from anywhere else in the world. The only difference is that Australia and England aren't putting a creationist forward as a candidate for the second-most important role in the country.

Alright, well, now we're all past that and Hostile has been proved conclusively wrong, let's turn the issue back to Sarah Palin and John McCain. Quote from a speech given by Mrs. Palin:

"What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys as you go out throughout Alaska — I can do my part in doing things like working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline. Pray about that also. I think God's will has to be done, in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that. But I can do my job there, in developing our natural resources, and doing things like getting the roads paved, making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded.

"But really, all of that stuff doesn’t do any good if the people of Alaska's hearts isn't right with God. And that's going to be your job, as I'm doing my job, let's strike this deal. Your job is going to be: to be out there, reaching the people, (the) hurting people throughout Alaska, and we can work together to make sure God's will be done here."

Can someone (anyone?) explain to me exactly how 'God's will' involves building gas pipelines?

As VP, or President should something happen to McCain, which everyone seems to be taking as a given anyway, this woman would doubtless demand the world convert to her faith. I know the phrase 'God bless America' gets bandied around by various Presidents, but that's just a phrase, really. This woman is clearly a religious nut, and, I believe, a born-again Christian, which is even worse. She was baptised aged 12, which suggests to me that her parents didn't care for religion and she decided for herself that it was the best way. People like that are always the most vehement and the least tolerant, which is a big problem for someone vying for massive global power. The church she attended was called the 'Wasilla Assembly Of God'. That should give you an indication as to the type of Christianity they preach.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

With regards to the born-again Christian bit, I'm pretty sure she was baptised as a baby as well, but under a different denomination (Catholic I think), so she isn't one really.

The pipeline stuff is a load of bullshit, she's hiding behind the God-wants-it. What does God really want in America? Peace, people to love him, people to love each other, equal opportunies - Yes. Pipelines - No. Well, maybe He does, but I doubt it's one of His priorities.

The major difference between France and America is that, while they both carp and whinge about being stereotyped, discriminated against and generally hated, the Americans try to do something about it by bombing smaller countries. This is why France should never be given control of anything more important than the shipping forecast.

LOL @ stupid woman's god speech. No doubt she'll want to reclaim the holy land or something. She'll commission the pope for a Twelfth Crusade, and even his Nazi ass will raise an eyebrow.

Please, America, rid yourselves of such stupidity and keep her the fuck out of office. The rest of the world begs it of you to see reason in this matter.

I don't know what to say. This is absolute garbage and comes off the cuff. Stupid woman? Reclaim the Holy Land? Commission the Pope? Twelfth Crusade? Pope is a Nazi? This reply was not your best and you delivered with little forethought on possible rebuttels.

As a stupid woman, she as a Republican took on incumbant Republicans and indicted them on corruption and kicked their asses out of office. She made good on removing porkbarrel spending as well as earmarks in current bills. Isn't this what you would want?

@Vort(wart)

Based on this niave remark, I'll have to assume you are younger than I first thought. I thought maybe 17-18, now I'm thinking 14-15.

@m@tt

The pipeline stuff is a load of bullshit, she's hiding behind the God-wants-it. What does God really want in America? Peace, people to love him, people to love each other, equal opportunies - Yes. Pipelines - No. Well, maybe He does, but I doubt it's one of His priorities.

I very highly doubt God is even bothered by world peace, pipelines, or whether people even question his existance. I would like to believe if there is a God, he probably would have better things to do. Nothing worse than people spouting at the mouth "God told me today..."

God didn't tell anyone anything. God voted "present" on that day. (poke at US Congress and Obama)

@Dlots

Jeez, are you a Hillbilly or what? Never heard of the eleventh commandment?

Not sure what this comment means. In the US there is a fine line between calling a white person a hillbilly and calling a black person a nigger. Are you inferring that hillbillies are stupid? Or that if one is a "hillbilly" that their opinion is immediatley disqualified. Define what you "think" is a "hillbilly."

Just because people might live in the "country" doesn't mean they are stupid. Many run massive farms and work 14 hrs a day. They feed not only our nation but also others around the world. US "hillbillys" are the same hard nosed people who are the first to sign up for military service and die on the front lines. Call them stupid for that but we do have the largest all volunteer army in the world. (watch the usual suspects slam me on this one.)

If you want to open the floodgates on stereo type racial names, than just let us know. We can make fun of European "hillbillys" as well.

@Vort

Alright, well, now we're all past that and Hostile has been proved conclusively wrong, let's turn the issue back to Sarah Palin and John McCain.

Conclusively wrong... heh. I'm not that easily steamrolled little man.

@Dlots

Just ask the Ukraine how they feel about being paranoid. Ask Poland...

In summary. McCain is gonna be labeled a nazi and a fascist no matter what. (which is odd because they are differant) and Palin is also now someone people want to slam until high heaven. Yet many thought Hillary was just perfect, except Obama won the primaries.

NOW (National Organization of Women) slam Palin every where. But I thought they promoted the existance of women who aspire to exceed the glass ceiling? Only if that woman isn't a Repuplican. NOW has slammed Palin because she has 5 children and one has Down Syndrome. Aren't these the same people who praise women who manage a career and a family?

Unless that woman is a Republican. Isn't that a double standard? Of course it is. Don't claim to be for women unless you define only "some women"

The far left wing liberal hate machine is in full force in the US and don't think the US population isn't digusted by it. Slamming Palin simply because she stands for something like fighting corruption.

I think Obama is a good guy who got bad advice. He should have never chosen Biden, he should have chosen Hillary. That would have been a no brainer. Seems the far left is full of "no brains."

So Obama will lose the election because many "advisers" guided him incorrectly. Obama is a good man with noble intentions. Unfortunately they are socialist which has little appeal to normal working class Americans.

Want proof? Find it on US election day Nov 7th.

Don't be shy, slam me all you want, I'll be back in a couple of days... :xd:

This topic is quite heated and considering that I have a test that will cover everything I've learned in my university in 8 hours and I haven't studied 10% of it, I'll just leave my two cents on McCain's partner:

She is extremely conservative, a puppet from republicans and a serious threat for USA and the rest of the world. I prefer a guy who speaks what we want and change the discurse everytime than seeing a person like her in the White House, who can create conflict with Russia, force schools to ignore Darwin, send more money to Iraq for the US troops hunt the ghost of Saddam Hussein... really. That woman is dumb to hell and has no fucking clue about foreign politics.

Every time an American soldier dies in the name of protecting Muslims from other Muslims Ben Franklin roles in his grave.

We need to stop the Iraq war at once and bring troops from all over the world home to protect OUR own country not to die for OTHER PEOPLE'S WARS. LET THE MUSLIMS KILL EACH OTHER! SAVES US THE TROUBLE!

As a stupid woman, she as a Republican took on incumbant Republicans and indicted them on corruption and kicked their asses out of office. She made good on removing porkbarrel spending as well as earmarks in current bills. Isn't this what you would want?

What is this? Are you reviewing my opinions now?

I was not being sexist when I said 'stupid woman', since you seem to require that level of clarity. She is a woman, and she is stupid. End of discssion.

As for the Crusade stuff, look at her. She wants to get oil for America because "God wills it". After that oil pipeline is built, where then do you think she will turn? Here's a fucking clue: Where is there a lot of oil ripe for the taking? Jee, could it be where the heathen and the infidel live?

Pope Gutless Bastard II (the first being the one who basically sanctioned Hitler's actions). Now, whether he agreed with what Hitler preached or not, I still would think twice about someone with his affiliations being head of the Catholic Church, for much the same reason I might think twice about putting Michael Jackson in an orphanage, or allow Michael Barrymore access to a nudist swimming pool. Black marks on people's history, whether put there willingly or under duress, are there to be noticed.

Also, for Crusade point, who is the one group of people who have been the target of, oh, let's see, every Crusade? I think you'll find they live somewhere warm, sunny and oil-rich. Although I suppose you're right - Milf probably won't bother to request the Pope commission it. She'll just go on ahead and do it, like ol' Bushy.

Based on this niave remark, I'll have to assume you are younger than I first thought. I thought maybe 17-18, now I'm thinking 14-15.

So, it's a crime to be younger? And automatically, because his opinion is as it is, he's younger than you thought? Whatever. This has to be the most pointles rebuttal I have ever head.

If you want to open the floodgates on stereo type racial names, than just let us know. We can make fun of European "hillbillys" as well.

So it's true - Irony is lost on Americans. He was taking the piss.

And yea, you pre-empted me on the slam point. There was a joke just staring me in the face, and you almost got it. :p

Conclusively wrong... heh. I'm not that easily steamrolled little man.

With responses like that, we don't have to. Little man? That's about as derogatory as you find hillbilly to be.

Nah, I think they're probably more likely to be against her because of her attitude and policies.

I think Obama is a good guy who got bad advice. He should have never chosen Biden, he should have chosen Hillary. That would have been a no brainer. Seems the far left is full of "no brains."

Ah, another anti-leftist joke. I wonder if you have a big hat from which you pull out these "gems"... :p

So Obama will lose the election because many "advisers" guided him incorrectly. Obama is a good man with noble intentions.

No, he'll lose because he's black.

Unfortunately they are socialist which has little appeal to normal working class Americans.

That says a lot.

Sarah Palin and McCain are just more neo-con globalist scumbags who will continue to sell us out to the Saudis.

Correct, except once they've sold the Western World out they'll go and conquer most of that region.

She is extremely conservative, a puppet from republicans and a serious threat for USA and the rest of the world. I prefer a guy who speaks what we want and change the discurse everytime than seeing a person like her in the White House, who can create conflict with Russia, force schools to ignore Darwin, send more money to Iraq for the US troops hunt the ghost of Saddam Hussein... really. I don't really feel that i have much to say right now that wouldn't be a derailing of the thread. Banshee puts it firmly where it should be. a republican woman, "pro-life" and all that jazz which barely fits any average American these days. its insane and a blast from the bushy past.

Just because people might live in the "country" doesn't mean they are stupid. Many run massive farms and work 14 hrs a day. They feed not only our nation but also others around the world. I would consider myself a "hillbilly". Grew up out in the middle of nowhere on a frigging farm. Naturally when your father was a politician most your life, you get a bit more interested in the shades of gray than people normally are.
To grow up in the middle of nowhere is not unusual, its the amount of knowledge and brainwashing you get into your head which decides what happens to you. and in a country where you have two political options, people have a tendency to see things in black and white.

On the topic of volunteer soldiers. 6/10 of those are most likely "Rambos", the sort of people you really don't want near a gun or in any life-and-death situation because they are sure to fuck it up somehow. I have my disagreements with our draft, and I have very little interest in being dragged into military service for a year. But it lets them be picky about who they put out into the field. And if they get someone who says "I wanna kill some towelheads, YEAH!", they can calmly roll their eyes and say "next".

Dunno if I am one of your usual suspect, but that is basically my opinion on it. Not a support of your opinion, nor a total slaughter. a nice shade of grey i guess?

Just so you're fully aware, I am 19. You could have checked my profile first, instead of just randomly throwing out what you think is an insult. My little brother is 14 and he has far more well-developed political views than some of what you've put across. Nice try. By the way, the comment about France was sarcasm. I shall remember for future reference that you don't get it, and will endeavour to put in a nice, clear explanation next time. I find it quite amazing that DLotS, for whom English is a second (possibly third) language, can fully comprehend and even detail his own sarcasm, while you, a grown man from the capital of an English-speaking country (or so we're told) have no idea when sarcasm is being bandied around.

You know, I'm very glad Ash is here. It saves me the trouble of going through every single point you made and putting in my rebuttals.

Slamming Palin simply because she stands for something like fighting corruption.

Fighting corruption is great, she can do that all she wants. It's the God-bothering, oil crusade, double standards and political inexperience, far more so than Obama, Biden, Clinton or, indeed, any of the major Democratic players, that get her slammed.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

I'm not gonna nilly pilly with the rest of your post.

Fighting corruption is great, she can do that all she wants. It's the God-bothering, oil crusade, double standards and political inexperience, far more so than Obama, Biden, Clinton or, indeed, any of the major Democratic players, that get her slammed.

Obama God-bothers just as much. All candidates meander as needed and throw around the "big white bearded invisible man in the sky" routine.

Palin actually surcharged and taxed the oil companies and instead of absorbing the cash for the state of Alaska, she actually cut rebate check for $1200/household for Alaskan residents. That's more that both Bush tax breaks combined.
http://www.bloomberg...6...&refer=home

Each Alaska resident gets an annual rebate from state oil revenue, and this year Palin added $1,200 more to the $2,100 check each person received.

Palin, 44, proposed the tax increase Sept. 4, 2007, and called a special legislative session to pass it. At an Oct. 12 community meeting in Anchorage, the governor referred to oil as ``our very valuable non-renewable resource.''

I'm sure big oil LOVES Palin... :p

About the double standards one, I'm not sure what you mean. You'll have to clarify that one.

About political experience...right now the democratic Presidential candidate is being compared to the Republican Vice Presidential candate in regard to executive experience. Palin does win that one being Governor and mayor. Both executive positions of which Obama has never held even one government executive position.

Obama has also stated that his ability to manage such a large campaign gives the proof that he has the executive experience to be President. When in the history of the US political process has someone actually had the guts to say that he qualifies to be President simply by running for President?

Things that make you go hmmm...
http://elections.fox...nce-than-palin/

I've heard the original soundbite. Obama was comparing his campaign budget and employees vs Palin when she was mayor. Excuse me Palin is Governor for two years. Yet Obama fails to compare his campaign budget to Alaska budget.

Obama was sworn in as a senator on January 4, 2005. That is not an executive position. It's a legislative. Where is Obamas executive experience? Running his own campaign? When the one party's candidate has to prove he has more experience than the VP of the other party. Yikes! Not good momentum wise right before an election.

So now Vortinator, I personally have nothing against you or most of the others here that stomp their foot and state their views. But understand I play rough because if you haven't noticed:

1) Alot of stupid people out there.

2) Revora is VERY disproportionate to one sided view. And let me tell you a secret, it's not the side I tend to follow. I've been called a racist, a nazi, a bigot, a fascist, and so on. So you'll have to understand I have to come on strong because I'm in a very small minority. It's called the silent majority. It means alot of people agree with me but don't bother to even post.

3) Tell me the difference between conservative and neo-conservative? And don't tell me simply the spelling.
