New hero animations

I've been studying some tutorials and experimenting with different files in order to create a new regular hero.
I have experimented with lurtz.ini, substituting a Corrupted Man palantir portrait and button image in place of Lurtz. I also replaced the Lurtz skin and skeleton with an Easterlings.

If one starts from scratch and uses createahero.ini as a template for a new regular hero, how does one determine which animations to use/replace? I've extracted all the Corrupted Man chcm_cm....w3d files. The Dwarven CAH tutorial has been helpful, but the animations were already in place in Dwarven[HeroName].ini.


(Level one power will be toggle weapon, by the way.)

I've learned to find my way around the files, but it still seems a daunting task.

Just replace the dwarven 'animation prefix' with the cm's 'animation prefix' :lol:
Or is that not really the question?

There are more Dwarven animation files than Corrupted Man animation files. If I replace, delete the unused Dwarven animations?

I'll need to add the animations for weapon toggle too.

If you follow the tutorial and just replace the animations the hero will work just fine :lol:
If you really get annoyed by its size, then you should try to see what animations do not exist and delete that animation(part)
I believe that Dwarven CAH tutorial's dwarven CAH has that weapon toggle in its animation code, but im not sure so i will have a look ;)

Do this...
Open up: \data\ini\object\createahero\createaheroanims.inc
Then copy it all to your hero's ini and remove the first few lines of animation with the CREATE_A_HERO_IN_CREATION_SCREEN in it ;)
Then replace #(MODEL) with the chcm_cm thing ;)
