Well, if the worst comes to the worst, you can always threaten her with legal action. Seriously, though, don't worry about it too much. My advice, whether or not you want it, would be to apologise for snapping at her (doesn't matter if you mean it, but you have to be gentle and apologetic with pregnant women all the time, there's simply no two ways about it) and just do your best to be nice to her. Good luck, man.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Ah yes. Sorry, Jenkins. You are now rated. I think that's everyone's age guessed at.

@ Mike: If you changed the order around, that wouldn't be too bad. Elizabeth is a fine name.

@ Vort: I'm 15. Way to make me out to be more mature than I actually am. But I'll take that as a compliment, even though I have a bit of a Peter Pan complex. Is it because I don't type like I'm from MySpace?

@FZM: Congratz on not dieing for however many years this is! *goes to check previous page*

I'm 19, 20 on the 10th July. You could have just checked my profile, you know. :)

@ Ravnin: You're seriously only 15? Man, good going.

Well this is all blissfully irrelevant. Glad you're all having such a nice time in here :)

@ Mike; 100% solidarity with your naming decision. If she's gonna have a weird name at least make it a good one, like Calypso. That's a good name :D
And no, I have no idea why that's the first to come to mind.
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.

Calypso sounds like the stage-name of an "exotic dancer."

I advise against it :)

Calypso is an exotic dance. Do you want to name a child after a dance? :)

How about Scheherazade? That's a damn fine classical name, and apart from the Soul Calibur character, I can't think of any culture-based references. I also like Circe, that's a good name. Or Cassandra, and she'll grow up to be a credibility-free prophet of disaster. Just don't call her something from Lord of the Rings, for everyone's sake. :)

Vort: Yeah, i guessed about that. I didn't check your profile cause i didn't think it would be in there(actually it didn't even cross my mind to be honest).

Most people dont fill in their profiles properly (i know i dont :)).

And yeah, no Calypso. Call your daughter 'Some_weirdGuy' thats a good name ;)
Seriously though, fight to give her a nice normal name.

My cousin's name is Cassie(Casandra), its a pretty good name. But there are heaps of good names out there, pick a good one and then start pushing for it.

edit: worse comes to worse and you can just start calling the kid the name you want weather the mother likes it or not ;)
If its a good name(as in, you convince the kid its a good name) then when they are old enough they can be like 'hey mum, i like dads name for me better'

Each of you picks a name. A coin is flipped. Whoever wins the toss has their name choice as the first name; the other becomes the middle name.

A good compromise pisses everybody off equally.

Do what i said and just use the name you want went you want to address the kid. They seem like they aren't about to compromise so give up on trying to convince them and just call the kid what you want even if its not what they call it.

Elliot is a man's name. It just is. I always rather liked Emily, that's my serious suggestion, but I still prefer Scheherazade. You can't really shorten it, though. I also like Tarja. It speaks of awesomeness. The only two famous Tarjas are either the former Nightwish singer or the President of Finland, so, you know.

Hmmm...I thought my idea was a reasonable way out of the conflict, but then I've never had to be pregnant, so I dunno what it's like.

Don't name the child Grace or Faith or any such name, please. What if she's clumsy and is named Grace? Or Faith decides to be an atheist? Those names just put boundaries on what is expected of the child.

And yes; Elliot is a guy's name. The only Elliot I ever knew was my fifth grade Guidance teacher, and I hated him horribly. Ironically, the only times I got sent to the "Problem Solving Room" that year were for being rude in the class designed to help people solve problems.
