Trick question. It isn't. Or if it is, then it's because it all works on the same decimal scale, whereas imperial measurements bounce around all sorts of base numbers. It's just simpler to use metric for scientific stuff, but for practical stuff I think imperial is just plain better.

The same argument applies to the imperial system. If you grow up using it then you know it inside out. 16 ounces to a pound, 14 pounds to a stone. 12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, 1760 yards to a mile. (There are actually loads of intermediate stages too, but nobody uses them except for in horse-racing.) 8 pints to a gallon, whatever else. I can figure it all out in my head, which is kinda fun.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

TBH I don't like the imperial system (I'm a logical person, it doesn't make sense to me), but I've gotten use to it over the years as no-one appears to want to the metric system.

I've been trying to think in base 12 recently. It's rather difficult  what we would call 27 is really 23 in base twelve, or twodozen-three. I also had to invent a new symbol for eleven, so I just use J.

I know most of the Imperial measurements I use it sometimes for weight and height because most people still use it for those things.
Also for the reason 6'7" sounds taller than 200cm.
But as a rule I think most Aussies use both.

I'm kinda pissed because this entire week has been crap so far...
1st - got a 1.7 (10 is highest grade) for a chemistry test...
2nd - I have some stupid issue with getting on revora & the3rdage.net using any pc in my house... it seems im ip blocked?
3rd - for getting a 1.7 i need to come really early to school (around 7:00) 4 times next week!

I sure hope my week doesn't get screwed up even more...

You need to come to school early because of a bad grade? The hell?

As for the whole metric vs imperial system of measurement and which one is better, I know them both well. So I don't know which one is better and I frankly don't care.

o_O that is just...

You'd think they'd find a low grade punishment enough, going to school that early isn't going to solve anything, except for you possibly having less time to study things the night before and getting less sleep. I suppose they hope you study from 7 till 8:30 but still o_O. Can I ask what year you are in?

It is, because all units are related. There are several base units, from which all others are derived. Therefore, formulas hardly include magic numbers, but are always something like "kg * m = J"

I'm from the Netherlands so I get it perfectly ;). Strange that they do that at such a high year o_O..

My location used to be in my profile but I guess with the board update a long time ago it got erased. Never noticed that till now :).

While I agree, it's stupid how an amzing amount of partially arbitrary units have crept into this that you need to know the conversions for, like electron volts, angstroms, etc. Granted they're very useful but still it pissed me off.

Also I know of very few formulas that don't have magic numbers . Stefann-Boltzmann constant is in equations that I use allll the time for example (though it can be derived from base quantum laws)

They're not running the History A-level course I wanted! I wanted to learn about Totalitarian Ideologies, Liberal Democracies and the British State 1800s-1914. Not about Nazi Germany, World War Britain and International Relations Post-WWII!

I had a bad 2 days for my favourite Doona (Austalianese for Woolen blanket) :(
First I decided to wash it,when I went to take it out I found that it had oily greasy stains all over it.
My dipshit neighbour washed his Oily overalls in the communal Washing Machine leaving a layer of grease in the Machine.
I washed the Doona again but to no avail.
Finally I decided to hang it out anyway, when I was out it was stolen off the line.

This has really pissed me off it was Big and warm and it's just starting to get into Winter temperatures.
