Wow so you have decided to use the thunderhawk, that is extraordinary and unbelievable at the same time. You can be assured that I'm excited and so many will be appreciative.

Yeah - it really is missing from the SM line up - and I am not a fan of the way SS fliers are done so... - a chance to make up for it to some extent. It will be an ability rather than a vehicle - a cross between an airstrike and a deepstrike. You won't be able to fly the Thunderhawk around like a SS flyer, but it will appear and it will fight in a manner of speaking. I think, however, it will be far better for that.

It's also now an integral part of our HQ with bolters that wll fire in self-defence in tier 2 (which together with the Stormtower defences makes up for the fact that turrets are not as available as for vanilla SM).

Yes that sounds as the best way to do it with the thunderhawk, there is another mod where the Imperial Guard use a Valkyrie for a quick missile barrage air strike, it passes over the battle field and when it fires it looks like the airstrike the commander calls. Anyway, the turrets on the Thunderhawk firing as base defense will be epic.

Grimnar will use a TH transporter as a transport, Ragnar a TH gunship as a gunship. It's all coming together nicely to give the two branches their own identity.

As much as I love playing scenario games also, I agree with the difference, gives both branches uniqueness. Long Fang, trust me, you will make it work.

I think with TH being an ability rather than a vehicle per se - evacs are out of the question. Sorry fellas. It's a one-way ticket.

Or like DH where they land a landraider. But yeah - something like that. Deepstriking isnt new in DOw 1 after all - but deepstriking + an aerial strike - that's cool!

WEll the way I saw it it would do the bombardment first - clearing the drop zone, then land the troops, then lift off, firing bolters as it goes. :wink_new:

I think the cannon on top is a battle cannon, but don't quote me on that.

still meph, im not seeing how you can combine the effort of bringing the ship down and droping off troops, which has already been done in countless mods, but making it fire the cannon and bolters aswell? i just dont think its plausable

Well the battlecannon can fire intp the ground before the TH lands. The tricky part may be getting it to fire its bolters as it takes off. But we'll find a way. If it's just part of the animation and has some kind of blanket effect on the ground, then it shouldn't be a problem - it's just an extension of the ability.
