I'm glad to see yet another helpers. If you want to make arabic replics, you are welcome.

But you also need to know, that I need quality replics. They need to be recorded with good microphone (good one costs about $100). They need to be without noises (no road noise, no street noise, no other voices on background, generic microphone "sh-sh-sh" noise must be as minimal as possible). They also need to be recorded with loud and sure voice and good intonation.

There are many units in game and you need to record many voices. So, you need to invite your friends and involve them into this work. Sound editing programs can modify voice, but they are not allmighty. It is possible to make 2 or 3 different voices from one, but you still need another voice actors.

If you are ready, you can start right now. Please buy a microphone, install sound recording software, then record some replics and send them to me.

Which software to use? I recommend something from this list:
- Record Pad (made by NCH Software)
- Sound Forge (made by Sonic Foundry)
- Wave Lab (made by Steinberg Media Technologies)
It is not needed to install everything. Install ONE of these programs.

Which format do I need? The game undesrtands WAV format only. Save everything in WAV, 44kHz sampling, PCM coding.

What to record? Each unit in game says something in 4 cases:
- when selected (3-5 replics)
- when ordered to move (3-5 replics)
- when ordered to attack (2-3 replics)
- when exits barracks or war factory (1 replic)

Try to make Rebel voice. When player selects him, he must say some thing like:
- "yes, sir"
- "at your service"
- "rebel reporting"
When player orders him to move, he must say something like:
- "moving"
- "will be there soon"
- "I'm going"
When player orders him to attack, he must say something like:
- "Forward! Attack!"
- "Kill them"
When rebel exits barracks, he must say something like:
- "Rebel is ready to serve".

These replics are just examples. It is not needed to use them all. You can say something different.

How will I recognise replics? You need to name all files correctly. If you have some replics for selection, name the files "select1.wav", "select2.wav", "select3.wav". If you have replics for moving, name them "move1.wav", "move2.wav", "move3.wav" and so on.

How to send files to me? You can send them by E-mail pestryakov@rambler.ru or using private messages here on Revora.

PS: Oh yes, there are 2 of you. So, let us split the task. Let Mohamed Sagr to make replics for Rebel and Fafniros to make replics for RPG trooper.

And I'm browsing through this thread, I've noticed that you have decided to rename Chinese units with the names of heroes and gods from China. Nothing against it, but will it be better if those were written in chinese characters? The current names are written in hanyupinyin.

Oh and I'm from Singapore, used to be active in the forum till I thought Contra died -.- I think I was around since 003.

And I'm Chinese, so if you need help (except for voice acting), I can help.

if 国语 you mean Mandarin, yes, I speak it. In Singapore, we are all forced to learn English and our Mother Tongue. But I'm lazy to type in Mandarin, so I'll go with English in the forum. But the thing is, I don't think anyone sees the name of the units when they buy, they will look at the description instead. Having the chinese characters will give it a greater feel of controlling a chinese army, without rendering players clueless.

But it's cool if it's not going to happen.

And i cant speak chineese or any asian language, so how will i explain my team mate player to send me guan yin or something, should i draw letter "house" and "tree" on map with my units, since i dont use asian keyboard buttons?

hey, you don't have to be sarcastic. as i said, it is cool if it doesn't happen. or the hanyupinyin spelling could be included along side the chinese characters, then you wont have to draw "house", "trees" or "kill" for that matter.

Of course it would be fun to use the chinese signs instead. Only one problem: We use a latin text file. So if we use Mandarin signs, it will look like boxes. So, it will not be possible to do. Oh, and another one, it is hard to type chinese ona latin keyboard if you don't speak Mandarin.

The most of efforts are directed to balance correction and bug fixes. But some new units, upgrades and buildings will appear too. I made the following for now:
- Karkadann replaced existing Desert Cruiser for assault general;
- Frog missile upgrade was added to air force general;
- Toxin pump upgrade was added to toxin general;
- Fast transport was added to infantry general (I use old 3D model for a new role);
- Mangusta tank was added to infantry general (I use old 3D model for a new role);
- Apocalypse Device was added to nuke general;
- Karakourt speed upgrade was added to toxin general.

I you want, you can translate absolutely everything into Chinese and write all inscriptions in game with hieroglyphs. I can give you text file with all inscriptions and software which converts the text into CSF format for the game. Do you want to do it?

- mappers to create single player missions (not beginners)
- skinners to draw textures (not beginners)
- translators to translate Contra into another languages

Do not forget about language barrier. Not all people are able to read hieroglyphs. Chinese characters will fit for chinese version only.

Only one problem: We use a latin text file. We use a latin text file. So if we use Mandarin signs, it will look like boxes.

Not a problem. Zero Hour supports unicode with all latin, cyrilic, arabic, chinese, korean, japanese and indian characters. I tested it and saw correct chinese and arabic characters with my eyes.

One man called Mohammed started to translate Contra into arabic a while ago. I developed especial converter for him (Usual CSF editor did not support arabic). But he disappeared then and I did not recieve any result. But my converter remained and it supports any language, including Chinese. So, the text is not a problem.

Yeah, help is needed. Pals7 has problem with his real life and I'm stuck with GLA mission 4 scripting (so I'm currently working on mission 7 terrain and object placement for the time being). Most GLA missions are planned to detail (though it can be changed for improvement of playing experience).

I'm not sure if I could be of any use. I'm experienced with world builder & very experienced at making AODs, but I've never touched mission AI before. I'm more of an INI coder, and a map.ini coder. I also speak British English as a primary language.

I can script a mission without the AI building units. I usually spawn an attack force off map & then have them attack, patrol, or whatever. I am hopeless with subroutines, but fine with general scripting.

It's more like signs. Hieroglyphs are the signs the Ancient Egyptians used.

- Egyptian hieroglyphs
- Dongba script
- bla-bla-bla...
- a Chinese character !!!

Wiki content was written by many people. Some of them are professionals, another ones are dumbasses. Thus, you can find everything there: from normal articles to absolute bullshit.
