Here we go... I removed the "civilian" Warg Creep model that replaced the Spider Pit, and exchanged with this new model from Angmar faction in RotWK. A slight reskin of all stone textures into scrap metal textures, and we have this...

The spikes fit rather well in this faction! :p
This is where you'll get:
- Warg Pack @lvl1
- Wolf Riders @lvl2
- Warg Riders @lvl3

I might even change that into:
- Wolf Pack @lvl1
- Warg Pack & Wolf Riders@lvl2
- Warg Riders @lvl3

But we don't really need a wolf pack, since we'll keep the Spiderlings (due to the strong spider theme in this faction), so I'm not sure about that.

Here's a question (sorry if I'm being annoying):

Why does Moria faction have Wargs? Aren't wargs only an Isengard (warg riders) and Mordor thing (Gothmog's warg)?

Thanks for putting up with the question!

Hehe, don't be afraid to ask things... As long as ppl being polite and just - "ordinary" I guess, there's no reason for me to not like answering questions :p

According to the lore, Goblins did use wargs/wolves =)
Namo, please correct me if I'm wrong? Regardless, I pretty much hate the spider riders which I KNOW are not a part of the lore, so they had to go. They can be found in Spider Creeps though. In their place in Moria faction, we got ourselves warg riding gobbos instead. But we had no real structure for them, so we used the warg creep model, which looks good but a bit funny when playing maps with warg creeps. This model looks great in Moria =)

Wel, I didn't want to be a n00b that drives you away from modding. ;)

Really? They did have Wargs...maybe I'll have to check TG for my own knowledge. ;)

Yeah, the spider riders don't look as good as wargs. I haven't played Goblins (in any mod, not even RotWK and don't even want to play bad guys), but the wargs would be better.

Ohh! The grey wargs look nice! :p

The wargs from the Misty Mountains were featured in both the Hobbit and a small battle in the Fellowship of the Ring that (unfortunately) wasn't filmed. Isengard's wargs are mentioned, but never actually seen in the books. Isengard is in allegiance with them, and Sauron has an extensive background involving Wargs and Werewolves.

Wargs are in fact evil spirits in Tolkien's works, it's not hard to imagine their association with the orcs dates back to many thousand years, it's not a faction thing. =)

The model looks great by the way.

I think the Wolf question has been up a fewtimes too... wether there were only Wargs in Middle Earth, or also Wolfes? =)

Then are Angmar wolves in line with lore or was that just a "cool" thing that EA did?

There were both and they were different things, but it is believed wolves were also regarded as evil. Apparently, Wargs were larger and more menancing than regular wolves, also more self-conscious and malicious.

For those who didn't the books, the hyena looking Wargs were strictly WETA's creation (they did look great though).

Yeah. They did look good. So, the Wargs were are race of wolves (according to TG), not hyenas. The hyena look is cool though. Kind of sets them apart from regular wolves.

I don't think they contradict lore in any way. Wolves were also said to be evil, though not as clever as their larger cousins. Wolves actually invaded the Shire at one occasion, during the Fell Winter. Animals in Middle-Earth were far more spirited than nowadays. =)

Do we know if Angmar would've had trained wolves?

Nothing is mentioned about it, but then again all we have about Angmar are footnotes from the appendices. I can totally see the Witch King and his acolytes bending all sorts of evil creatures to their own advantadge. The Silmarillion mentions werewolves during Morgoth's reign, though I believe they were actually shamanistic tribes of men that worshipped wolves and Wargs. All in all, Tolkien does mention many "unspoken evils, lurking in the dark corners of the world". Plenty of room for creativity. =)

Very true. Not everything was mentioned and if some of it was mentioned in a different context, I guess that allows freedom to expand.

You seem to be very knowledgable about the lore. :p

looks great, a definite improvement over the warg lair

you could call it the "wolf den" though, because it has regular wolves as well as wargs (which are just bigger meaner wolves)
