Can you make the .dvd extract other things like characters? I'm trying to somehow add and edit characters on maps in Desperados with an HEX editor. For now i could only change they look and the starting items for playable characters. Can i somehow change an enemy into a civilian or anything? Why did no one released a map editor or something.

No, I didn't manage to extract anything else from the .dvd.
The developers of Desperados (or was it the publisher?) decided not to release any tools
So as long as we haven't figured out how to interpret all the sections inside the .dvd files, there will be no map editor.

Here is an interesting screenshot from Desperados:
It's the demo level, with Cooper as Dillon, Doc as the sheriff, and they are neutral to the bandits. The "lino" in front of the saloon is also replaced by "Desperado1". Modding Desperados is quite fun...

I have met one of the lead developers of Desperados 1 but 10 years ago, he didn't agree to give us the editors because he was not allowed to. Now, he's not able to anymore, or maybe he says so. Anyway, he told me additional missions were created but never released.
One solution would be to build a petition for Desperados' source code to be open sourced so everybody can get into it and create new missions. It would be cool because there are many movies and so on for inspiration. And this great game needs more.

A new map is available:
I don't have much time at the moment, so the map is still empty.
If anyone is interested in creating a cool mission, please go ahead!
You can download the new map here (the two missions created by The Call of War are also included):

@ah1990:
Technically it's not a big deal to use the Desperados maps in Destination Paris 1.42 (at least the maps that are already available in Commandos BEL). Personally, I wouldn't want to have those maps in DP because they don't really fit into the mod. But that's just my opinion.

Cool! I would like to have these maps in DP to

I am not able to play the missions, and what is that ComDiEx.exe file??
Posted 20 February 2015 - 05:23 AM
Did you run the .bat to install the missions or did you manually copy the files?
The ComDirEx.exe simply extracts (and renames) the archive WARGAME.DIR.
