-Rank One; Lochagos, or Captain.
~Mount/Dismount. Just for visual appeal, or fleeing a battle gone bad.
~Leadership. Leadership with decent radius and effects.
-Rank Three; Strategos, or Major.
~Powerful single-strike attack/temporary meta damage?
~Leadership. Increases the radius and effects of the leadership.
-Rank Five; Polemargos, or General.
~Some other power, maybe a large experience grant ala King's Favor?
~Leadership. Increases the radius and effects of leadership even further.
This is assuming that units will only advance to Rank Five - if they'll go to Ten, just space the Leadership upgrades (and name changes) apart by five ranks rather than three (so getting on at One, Five, and Ten) with one of the powers between each to keep things interesting. Or not, it's just an idea
Some ideas for Unit Production
~Sparta; the Agoge. Their entire military is based around the hoplites, so they should get them right off of the bat.
=Rank One – Hopilitai, Peltastati.
=Rank Two – Ekdromoi, Scouts. Production increase (25%?).
=Rank Three – Lochagos, Ballistae. Production increase (additional 25% on top of the previous?).
~Athens; Barracks? They were more progressive militarily than Sparta, so would get Ekdromoi earlier than Sparta. Also, equestrian activities were more popular with the Athenians, so they would get Scouts earlier as well. To counteract this, their hoplites were middle-class men supplying their own equipment, so wouldn’t have as great of stats or be as numerous as Sparta’s. Thus they wouldn’t be available until later.
=Rank One – Ekdromoi, Peltastati, Scouts.
=Rank Two – Hopilitai. Production increase (25%?). Gains a war-tower?
=Rank Three – Lochagos, Ballistae. Production increase (additional 25%?).

Either way is fine by me.This is assuming that units will only advance to Rank Five
About production increase.. I was wondering if we shouldn't do it more of an upgrade based increase. So you upgrade tech that makes it possible to make armour faster, and thus units are buildt faster. Of course those would be in addition to normal armour upgrades that actually upgrades the armour
Also, I had an idea.. How about we make the first tier in the spellbook (tier 1) different gods to "worship", giving the player some unique upgrades that aren't possible with the others. Of course it would also disable the two other gods. This would also decide how the statues will look like, and what type of leadership they would give (if they'll give any and we have them in)
Ares, being the war of "war" (actually slaughter or something like that) would give some fighting oriented stuff, like +10% damage, and give the scouts a blade for personal protection for example.
Just an idea up for discussion. Might be better for just Athens, since Sparta pretty much is always fighting oriented

I like that idea, including religion in the mod would make for a whole 'nother level of depth to the gameplay.
And that translates as more work.

Personally I'd rather not have any Gods or something of that type for this... I don't think it quite fits.
And, uh, I thought the CaH was going to be used for the captain, or is that separate?

And Lauri - I've been thinking about how the Greek pantheon would play into the mod, and haven't reached a viable solution yet So yours should be fine.
What I have been productive with, however, was an idea for how Sparta' power tree might be able to work. There would be three paths (preferably two if both you guys could bring the BFME1 tree back to BFME2 and if you would even want to do that...) throughout the tree corresponding to three different strategies: War, Economy, and Something Else. Each would have powers unique to its path (such as Sparta's "War" path starting out with a War-Cry power, then a summon, then a passive buff, etc...). But that's still a-ways-away.

And mike, that is basically what I meant by choosing a god. Only instead of choosing War as your focus, you choose Ares as your god. Of course, we might as well just make it into Path of War, and simply use an Ares statue
There is certainly no need to actually choose what God to worship, this would be just as good, if not better ("Tonight, we go to war!" is cooler than "Tonight, we worship Ares" )
About CaH: It's something I'd love to go crazy in eventually. Sure, it would be best to complete atleast one faction before starting, but at the same time I would like to be able to make my own Hoplite officer! Trust me, when it comes to CaH, I think we'll be able to go pretty crazy when we get there.

So here you go. The farm for Sparta, though it will probably look similar if not the same for Athens. It's currently ingame but we are still looking at the specifics concerning passability and visual ranks.
Also, Kwen made it so the wheat sways in the wind. Hats off.
