I have a question, was the AI in this MOD completely done from scratch? If so, did you find the problem with that stupid frame rate drop the game magicaly puts on it's self when the AI builds a large base? In every MOD I have played for Zero Hour, this is the only one that doesn't do that. If you found the problem, PLEASE pass it on to the other modders so we no longer have to deal with that shit... lol


It wasn't completely re-done, just COMPLETELY re-optimized and smartened, and also fixed many bugs. I'm not sure about much more.


Oh ok, but if you found that problem the AI was causing in Zero Hour, would you release a hotfix we could all use for other MODs? Or does that have to be coded seperatly for other MODs to work with it?


If your talking about the huge slow down problem when the AI builds a large base and spam tanks, especially in large 8 player maps. Then that is an unfixable bug.

I did alot of reading as to why the game was doing that, and alot of people say it has something to do with AI pathing placed on the maps the game came with. It apparently causes a bad loop hole in the AI's programming that causes it to recalculate itself 50,000 times a second, causing sever lag. Also says if you try playing a large map with the max amount of CPUs, that was made by someone other than EA, the game would work flawlessly. So if that was the case, I was really hoping there would be a way to code a patch to reorganize the pathing process the AI takes on the vanilla maps.

I got maybe an idea for the new contra 008
every team gets an epic unit for the price of 50000/100000.
The epic unit is also called as an game-ender unit.
Jarmen Kell cant shot the epic unit.
Black Lotus can hack the epic unit.

AND here we have one of the worse ideas and over used in the world of gaming! The EPIC UNIT. Thats right folks, this SUCKY, UNBALANCED, CRAP is back, with someone attempting to get it in contra.

Nope, we won't add this. Every general has a hero and a super unit already. To generalcamo: Balancing is VERY important in any game and mod, and we are trying to balance everything. We won't add this "epic unit". In 008, we will add maps, campaign, try to fix bugs and balance the mod. I think Contra doesn't need more units.

Contra already has EPIC/SUPER unit for each faction (well, except SWG which has multiple SWs instead). If used properly, those units can be the superb tool to win but it is not invulnerable.

Hmm, I dont deam this necessary, Im playing some supcom 1 again after a lot of time, and the only uber unit I would be able to imagine is something like the maver, a large, unlimited range artillery piece. But why would we need something like the maver in a game where victory is achieved by destroying bases, not by anihilating all units? The idea of the game ender is that it can shoot anywhere on the map to anihilate the enemy. What you suggest is just another overkill unit.

That been said, I can't wait for the release of Contra 008, I've played 007 every day for years upon years, it's a drug.
A wonderful drug for my strategic/tactic mind. Seriously YOU GUYS MAKING CONTRA ROCK! This can't be said enough times...

LOL.

You are right contra is the best mod for zero hour.

But the only things i don't love it in contra 007 is laser general he don't have a good unit at rank 3 something strong live overlord ,drone controller,B4 chimera etc. he don't have except paladin and it is too weak .

also assault general is weak he has no powerful artillery he have only luna but also howitzer is better than it. he have katushye but it is also weak unit. his special power aren't enough good.His super weapon is too weak i use 4 or 5 t destroy a command center .his base defence also aren't good.

You are right about that. Assault was too weak in 007. He is more powerful now.

I think there was one more anti-air unit: the MTHEL if I am correct. It is very powerful, you also get the Tokamak, Strategy Center, Countermeasures upgrade, Paladin, Burton, Sniper, one more defense structure and more drones. I think this is enough. Plus the powers at rank 3. More than enough.

well everybody gets these....in some way + tokamak is request-able because its insane the amount of power-plants you need to build...(serious weakness)
as look at tank gen , he gets so much ...sw gets very aggressive defenses and many abilities from strategy center+ new SW's etc...

Laser is much more powerful in 008 (I as Tank Gen have tried to fight with dce who got Laser and he overran me with Paladins supported by Microwave tanks).

Also, Laser got aggressive defenses as well. The Annihilator can usually destroy most ground force from distance. Combining it with units, you will get a powerful active defense. It can also be used in offense by building the Annihilator on the frontline.

Yeah, I think so.
Once me, you, and your brother played 1v1v1, sajezz was Tank and I was Flame. I was always stopping his attacks, but he destroyed my base with Helixes filled with ECM. I forgot about the Anti-Aircraft. You just need to know how to command the Generals. Only Assault general was weaker in 007.
