Yep, it is sad, but I cannot make Mental Omega work on my computer (Windows Vista/Command&Conquer First Decade). It keeps telling me to insert the correct CD, even though it is already in. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this, I would be very grateful if someone had. Are there any compatibility issues with the first decade? Or have I just screwed up?

EDIT: Ah, and I have installed the NP_SE_0022 patch.

Oh, and as this is my first post on the forum, Hello Everybody!

Welcome to the forum!

There is a relatively simple method to solving this, one I use myself:

Download Magic ISO Maker and follow the instructions. Make an ISO image from your CD.

Once that's done. Get Daemon-Tools Lite, make sure you get the free version!

Start Daemon-Tools and load the ISO you made from your CD.

Presto! If everything went well, you'll be able to start the game from the ISO. You no longer need to use the physical CD to play. Just load the ISO into Daemon-Tools.

Hope this helped. ;)

Alien, that won't work. He has TFD.

TFD has SafeDisc 4.60 which became the best SafeDisc out there... all else except that version are hacked up to this date.

Reinstall your TFD. If the bug comes in, switch ra2md.exe and YURI.exe. Once I ran into this bug but I don't remember how I fixed that.

Yeah, I have TFD but the disc is dead since 2008. I did wanted to have a backup copy... but SafeDisc crapped all my ideas.

I've tried both, but it still doesn't work. But thanks anyway :)

Then I guess you could try reinstalling the game.

Bah, this is ridiculous. I suppose requesting support from EA wouldn't do you any good?

After uninstalling I'd go through your registry to see if there's any leftover stuff or use a registry cleaner like CCleaner. If you've previously had other versions of YR installed they may have left registry entries which could now be confusing your computer.

I had similar problems.

I made this Mini image and have this mounted with Daemon Tools. Give this a try.

If it makes any difference, I use Daemon Tools Pro v4.10.0218.

Add an IDE Virtual Drive and mount this image. That should make it work. (You load the .MSD file)

Sorry Firestorm, as a part of TFD is not freeware afaik, it's technically illegal for you to share the image itself here.

But that wasn't the image itself, by the looks of it it was simply an imitation (as TFD installs everything to your HD it's really quite pointless to use the full disc).

AFAIK, the CD image is from GameCopyWorld but I never could make it to work.

Hmm, a mini image right? Well, I suppose I'll restore the post for now until I can do some more research on this. My apologies.

You are somewhat correct, but it's not the same one.

The one from GCW, when extracted is the exact size of the real game disc, I believe it's 7.7GB in total.

My version is only 310KB in total.

@ Alien55234:

The actual image it's self contains absolutely no code from the real game disc, it just imitates it. When mounted, it seems to be exactly the same in terms of file names/folders and structure but it's all fake.

If you truly feel I am breaking any rules then OK fair enough remove the post, I just wanted to help the original poster to get the game running as I too have problems getting it to work with my TFD and after a LONG time trying different methods finally managed to get it working using this.

Well I actually have no problems at all, it's the thread creator that is having problems.

But out of curiosity I did a search in Google and found a NPSE 0022 NoCD on Media Fire, and would like to see whatever you have is the same.

The one I got from MF works in the sense that the game loads and works, but it slows the game down to ridiculous levels. For example MO mod loading takes about 5+ times longer to load to main menu, and loading a campaign level or save file takes about 3+ minutes... compared to the usual seconds.

Feel free to email whatever you have to this address: temp_mail@objectmail.com

p.s. I have no idea what NPAE is.

Well, looks like I got it wrong this time as I've done a bit more googling around so it's all good.

Surely it's just easier to use a disc image. That way he can play 'no-cd' with any patch.
