Hey guys. I just downloaded this mod today and was testing it out. It's really cool so far and I'd like to test it out and play online with other people. I was wondering if there is a Mental Omega dedicated server or if it just uses the xwis server. The reason I'm asking is because I logged online with mental omega and every game i tried to join said something along the lines of "you do not have the same version of the game, you cannot join this game".

2.0 uses XWIS, you can also use VPNs like Tunngle, CNCNet or Hamachi.

Thanks for the response. I know i can connect to friends through hamachi and other similar programs, but, (i guess what i meant to say is) I would like to know if any1 actually plays this online on the xwis server. I'd love to get some ffa's or 3v3 ffg's going like back in the day. Unfortunately, you need several people to play with you for that to happen and I only know 1 person who plays this game personally.

Wait for a stable 3.0 release and we'll wake up the multiplayer machine. :p

Hamachi is the best, because it very easy to use. :thumbsupsmiley:

The Beta Testers stepped away from Hamachi because it was so crappy. some ppl couldn't see each other
(ie 3 ppl in a game, 1 person saw every one, but the 2 others could only see that 1 person, but not each other)

Some people can't see other people can be fixed with Teamviewer,

However. Tunngle has one bad thing which I really hate,

Okay, so where is every1 playing right now? I've logged on the past few days on the XWIS default server and no1 is on playing the mod (let alone theres like 1 game of normal yr open only and like 7 ppl on yr).

Try to use UDP lan patch, because it easy to setting.

Hamachi needs the UDP patch to work, thanks for stating the obvious. FYI, the issues was around idiot port-forwarding which went beyond ordinary user control.

CNCNet doesn't have any issues, excluding the fact that it works but unsupported.

How the heck that's related to this topic, or the another one?

Look, mister... get a brain. Seriously. Because I see from here that you have no freakin' idea what the hell are you talking about.

For example, UDP has no reliability. Which makes it harder to work with. IPX is more stable. Also, IPX is more faster than UDP in LAN. UDP is more secure and more closer to TCP/IP, which is the reason why it pushed out IPX.

Learn to think, kthx.

As I said, try again when 3.0 comes out. ATM not many active players come to these boards.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, let's not get side-tracked about IPX vs UDP. The fact of the matter is that there will probably be more active players once 3.0 is released. :wink_new:

This will released if ARES 0.2 has reenable save/load function. :xcahik_:

IIRC, 0.2 won't have saving/loading.
