Here we go, from being a hated, weird looking "toilet" of a structure, I've finally come to a conclusion that makes this structure my new favourite in Moria faction. The old fissure was an open, roofless cave (?) with green/brown slime pouring out of it. In this weird pit both giants and trolls popped up from nowhere... No more! In SEE the fissue now functions like a crude siege works and features:

- New FX with black smoke and gray steam creating the illusion of a deep hole, much like the tunnel (Mine) system. The same ember FX as the Mine completes the image and the consistancy.

- 3 levels of looks where the weird brown (lvl1 & 2) and green (lvl3) slime is reskinned into scorching hot lava, pouring out of the deep opening in the ground. When first built, the lava is glowing from the heat and at this stage the fissure can only produce Banner Carrier technology (under ground), but as time progresses it cools down and at lvl 3 it's almost hardened and dry and thus walkable. This is when you will be able to build Moria Catapults (using Angmar cat model) that will be pushed by Cave Trolls.

(Giants will be summons only, and regular cave trolls will move to another structure (I'll get back to that))

- Also, the levelups feature a new system for bibs (floors) for the entire faction. The cracks with lava will be at lvl1 which fits better with the fact that they just rose from the underground. At lvl2 and 3 the cracks "heal" as the lava cools down and thus the base will look more "old" and "settled" in later stages, than in early.

I'm really content with this new addition to the "realism" factor of SEE... ^_^

Unfortionately... one of the best friends I ever had at these forums and also the best structure modeler I have ever worked with, is still long gone, due to an argument I never ever even got close to understand. And I think for that very fact he sorta hates me? Don't think he'll ever return. Funny thing though is that we gained Matias as unit modeler, so that's some confort.

I never found a setting for that, but it did cross my mind :wink_new:

Wow ! It's much , much better now ! It really fits with the Moria faction . You say Cave Trolls will be removed , so in an other structure ? Perhaps a kind of wild , half-repair Cage ? Or , to better suits with Moria feeling , a pit or a den ? Since that faction is made from wild caves , tunnels and foreboding pits , a lair , a bit like the wild lairs , but with more architectural style , will be useful ? :)
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.[1]

It's nothing fancy, I will use the Spider Pit. I know I know.. "it's a spider pit? It's got spider webs and cocooned ppl?" Yeah well, so do the entire faction (Web Cocoon upgrade + Spider expansion + Shelob, + Spiderlings), so with the spiderlings being summons for Shelob only, the pit would come in handy as a cave for trolls (plus technology center for Poison), otherwise it would be obsolete and I won't let go of a fully functional structure like this, plus I like the look of it =)

Trust me, if Matias starts to make buildings for you, you'll shit bricks.

Most likely yes, I've seen some of them in renders... but, I'm not even gonna begin to expect that. The dwarves alone are a treat beyond beleif for this mod. I've always hated the "Warhammer" guardians, even more than I disliked the EA vanilla goblins (that you cured) :good:

At level 3 does the lava (nearly) stop moving? That would be awesome.

Yeah, but the animation is not coded, it's in the model itself (only one). It would have to require editing the model itself, so I can't do that..

Make the lava part of the texture in number 2 a bit darker, as in the cracks, they wont be lighter, they start out darker once the lava has settled down, over time they would disappear and become gray. (Not sure though but i thought i saw that somewhere...)
Do ya know what i mean? :p
O looks nice though for the rest ;)

Realism to be told , I don't think units can pass from the hole through the lava without getting burned and the catapults to be set on FIRE ! At least the at first stage when the lava is really HOT ! Maybe make some sort of bridge?

Lvl 1: Only Fire Arrow tech! No exits.
Lvl 2: Only Forged Blades & Heavy Armor tech! No exits.
Lvl 3: Catapult (the lava is supposed to look more firm and cool here)

For the bibs, check the other topic on my final descision
