When you look at that pic the whole city has been changed. Looks like Weta went and redesigned rivendell.

Yeah the video is a little helpful, but it only furhers my confusion. Honestly Rivendell was redesigned. As you said some of the buildings were flipped around but not only that.... Theres no bridge from FOTR the tower behind the house of elrond was moved. a third building was added but has a tower in it that w as from the orignal structure..The walkway now curves outwar and connects to the building that was previously alone from the main buildings
I might do a hybrid of the 2, since itd make it easier for mapping.
Heres a hybrid of which I actually like, but I doubt itll be really playable

Suggestions (to look at when you get back to this map.)
1} Left of the House of Elrond is a larger garden - I think that should be expanded more, to allow a few buildings to be made.
2} The map also needs the Rivendell forge and stables. But I have no clue where they go.

A friend of mine from Minecraft Middle-earth, his name is Wheelleee, is working on a map of Rivendell, I am helping with the terrain. He has studied the geography of Rivendell a lot and has made some explanations about the differences between the new and old Rivendell. I am shaping the terrain for him, it's all still very WIP.
Here is a picture of the layout. =D

Nah mate, I have more free time, but your maps are still the best. ;p I got a lot of help from this Wheellee bloke. ;p He has studied Rivendell and keeps on coming up with new ideas to make it more accurate and he actually planned all the building placement. I'll make a new topic for this map.
