Hi everyone :)
Everyone has known me to be that person who makes a mod and then just abandondes it after 1 week.
I have learned my lesson and have gained a lot more skills.
I present the mod; "From Book to Game".
This mod will be working on each faction seperatley at a time.

The Lord of the Rings
The Battle for Middle-Earth II
Book to Game
Chapter I: The Shadow in the Mountains (Wild)
Chapter II: The Shadow of the East (Mordor)
Chapter III: "The Treason of Isengard" (Isengard)
Chapter IV: The Forgotten Strength (Men)
Chapter V: The Passing of the Elves (Elves)
Chapter VI: Kingdoms Reforged (Dwarves)

When a faction has been worked on for a considerable amount of time and has enough to play with, then the next faction will be worked on as well as the original.

But what I am planning to do is bring the lore somewhat into gameplay.
As an example, taking certain things that compel against the Lore of Tolkien and adding things in that can be used nicely ingame as well as being Lore friendly.

First the Goblins (or Wild as I call the faction) will be worked on.
The tech tree for this faction has been completed:

(If you wish to comment or critisize, then please be welcome to)

Now, the help I need at the moment is a mapper and possibly a skinner (yes I understand that most skinners are working on their own projects)

I will be the head coder a, modeller and a skinner.
Help will be very much appreciated :)

Yes.. good old times.. it was cool when everyone had such awesome ideas, many newbies who demanded so much from the modder :p. Hot topics are very rare latety, the discussions where every 2 minutes someone posted something, but now nobody has the time anymore and there are only a handfull mods left :sad2:, well what happens just happens and I hope there are members who have the time to get in your team :).

Thank you again :)
I wish people could join my mod.
But as you said, where do we find the time :(
All I need is a mapper, a skinner and a modeller.
The coding will be well up to date as I have pretty much all day everyday to work on it :p
I'm practicing my artwork skills and learning skinning and modelling.
But I promise one thing, this mod, will, succeed!!
All it needs is the help of this community.

I wish you good luck with the mod. I think it would be alright for you to work on tiny bits and pieces of other factions even when the focus is on one. Even if you don't publicly release or show anything, it helps keep you out of a rut when you can branch off on various bits of inspiration. Spending 100% of your time on ONE faction will get boring, fast. Thus, dead mod.

Spending 100% of your time on one faction will get boring, fast. Thus, dead mod.

Tell me about it.
My recommendation work on 2 factions at a time, work on 1 for a week or so and then switch it keeps you focused on the smaller details but adds
enough variety to keep it interesting.
That's what I've been doing with LWR.

Another thing is as you are working on a mod your skills improve (sometimes quite dramatically) and things change so keep a list of milestones and every so often
go back over your work to see if there's anything that can be improved or updated to fit in with newer stuff.
Something I learned from old LW.

I made Sauron Godly-like, so that when he is brought, that is the end for the opposing team.
But also, he is very hard to bring out you need more then just the ring this time.
What do you people think?

On another note, CaH will be edited in soon time with a change of powers, new sub-classes and new equipment :)
I'll work on these 2 factions, and work on the CaH until the Beta is out (but only next year some)

That's sounds very promising ! :) But weren't Olog hai only present in Mordor and around Dol Guldur ? It's not a big matter , but I just wonder if the were any of them in Moria or in Hithaeglir .
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.[1]

By "other sorts of Trolls," Tolkien apparently meant the Olog-hai, a superior breed of Troll created by Sauron at the end of the Third Age. It is not known what method or stock Sauron used to breed this new kind of Troll. In an unpublished note, in what appears to be a reference to the Olog-hai, Tolkien suggested that "It would seem evident that they were corruptions of primitive human types." (HoME X, p. 414) The Olog-hai could withstand direct sunlight and they were more cunning than other Trolls. They were large and powerful and their skins were as hard as stone. They understood the Black Speech, though they rarely spoke. They lived near Sauron's stronghold of Dol Guldur in southern Mirkwood and in the mountains of Mordor. The Olog-hai were entirely under Sauron's command and acted solely in his service.

So yes, they were under his command but so were most if not all evil beings of Middle-Earth ;)

Trolls were generally rather stupid. They did not build or create anything. Trolls hoarded riches that they stole, and they often ate the people they robbed. Trolls had no language of their own, though some Stone-trolls in Eriador were able to speak the Common Speech and Sauron taught Trolls in his service the Black Speech.

I might give the Wild Trolls an ability like scavenger but they only pick up a small amount of cash.

Trolls were incredibly strong and powerful and difficult to kill. Their main weakness was that most Trolls turned to stone when exposed to sunlight.

Obviously I can't make them too strong due to GamePlay reasons.

Trolls dwelled in Mordor, southern Mirkwood, the Misty Mountains including Moria, and in the Ettenmoors in Eriador near the woods called the Trollshaws.

The Mordor and Mirkwood trolls would be counterfit for Mordor
and the rest would be for the Wild Faction.

On his adventure in 2941, Bilbo Baggins met three Trolls named Tom, Bert, and William Huggins. These Stone-trolls roamed the Trollshaws and they had a cave there where they kept the riches they acquired, including Glamdring, Orcrist, and Sting. It is not known where or from whom the Trolls obtained these swords.
Tom, Bert, and William spoke the Common Speech, though rather poorly. They ate mutton and passing travellers when they could get them. They were pleased to capture Bilbo and the thirteen Dwarves, but Gandalf tricked them into arguing over how to cook them until the sun rose and the three Trolls turned to stone. They remained there like statues; Frodo Baggins and his companions saw them 77 years later while travelling to Rivendell.

There will be a possibility of Tom, Will and Burt as an elite horde but not quite a hero horde.

-Tom, Bert & William Huggins
--Cost = 1200
--Bought at the Fortress
--Rank 3: Pillage
--Rank 7: Berserk Rage

Forgot, they do turn to stone as well ;)
They respawn at Rank 1 again.
Their max Rank is 7
And their berserk rage is unique *taps nose*

I would appreciate it if you didn't simply copy and paste your ideas for SaF into this. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have the files anymore :p
What things did I copy?
I'll remove/change them to make them a bit unique ;)

Been away for a while.
Have been fixing my laptop and computer up.
But here is my progress so far:

Completed:
Easterling Archer
Easterling Swordsmen
Easterling Skin
Goblin Spearmen
Goblin Warg Rider

Going to do:
Goblin Drummer
Goblin Skins
Goblin Shield
Moria Uruks

Modboy was apart of my team but now he has left and is focusing on school.
My coder (who I will not name until he wants to) seems to have dissapeared (hoping he will return soon).
But now I need a second Skinner and Modeller.
I'm also gonna map a bit for the mod.

I had a question concerning a legal matter, am I legally allowed to put RotWK models/skins into Bfme2?
Or is it against Copyright laws to do so?
Cheers
