... of what is to come.

Unlike Sparta, its adversary, Athens will be able to construct walls to ward off attackers. They will be buildable after getting the Long Walls upgrade from the Agora, and will be walkable.

Objects included: wall segment, gate, and hub. Not included in this render is the staircase.

Wow, certainly a great addition Mathijs, can't wait to play as the new Athens faction.

I think that is the result of the picture quality, not the actual texture on the model. The tiles are the same as every other roof texture we've used with those style tiles.

I was not sure , indeed it looked like the photo quality was bad. Then it's all good.

Also, shouldn't you use the greek "A" on the flags ? Just saying ...

This is a little off topic, but there you go:
My only dislike about this mod is the loading screen, saying the pelopponesian wars in greek letters.
As I do Greek, I for one know this is not how to write it, as the letters are not the same, but only look like their english equivalents.
However, I did show some of your skins to my Greek Teacher, and he was impressed.
Good luck with the mod,
~Bofur

It's a compromise; If we do it the correct way, most can't read it. If we do it with a normal font and english, it's too dull. We want people to know they're playing The Peloponnesian Wars mod, so you'll just have to deal with it :)

But if that's the only dislike you have, we must've done quite good! :p

Some of you might have noticed that as you play our beta and your armies get bigger, lag becomes a problem. The main culprit here is our hoplite model, which is very heavy on the BFME2 engine due to its excessive detail. As such, I have created a new base hoplite model that, according to Lauri's testing, has eliminated all lag problems.

Just thought you might want to see what it looks like.

Posted Image

It is not quite as detailed as the old one (that is in the released beta) but it is a little cleaner and more uniform, and most importantly has 3x less polygons.

Looking great for the amount of poly's it uses, perhaps you could give people the choice if they want the high poly model (with lag) or the low poly model (without lag), which could be done with the graphic settings in the game.

I don't know if that sort of coding could be put on the graphics choices of Very High, High, or Medium?

I'm quite certain it can, after all EA did so too (and I have seen the code for it).
