The Battle for Middle-earth: Tactics

About project

 

1. Idea

The Battle for Middle-earth: Tactics – is a first mod for The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch-king which main goals not only to add units, heroes and buildings, but also cardinally to change a gameplay and to improve graphics.

  • Division of heroes on functions

    • Defense

  • Division of units on functions

  • Improved graphics, new visual effects
  • Campaign from the bfme1
  • New units and heroes
  • New maps
  • Balance.
  • Soundtracks from the movie “the Hobbit”

3. New Gameplay

3.1 New strategies of development

In the beginning the player is offered to choose between two strategies: "Offense" or "Defense". Each of strategy is in own way unique and introduces in game process a variety and new tactical elements.

"Offense" - strategy of development of the player, having chosen which he receives in the order small camp (almost unprotected from fast attacks of the opponent) with the bases for construction of certain buildings. Besides, bonuses and "Offense" are available to the player.

"Defense" - strategy of development of the player, having chosen which on the card there is a lock. As, bonuses and "Protection" upgrades become available.

3.2 New system of outposts

We completely processed system of outposts from BFME and ideally entered them in our new gameplay. Now there are three types of outposts.

As you can see, different types of outposts open new opportunities of further development of game before players.

 

3.3 New system of command points

For receiving bigger quantity of command points it is necessary not only to build more farms, but also to seize territories.

 

4. Improved graphics, new visual effects

The BFME series already it is a lot of years, and SAGE is incapable to compete with modern platforms. For this reason we decided to improve graphics in game and to approach it to modern standards.

5. New units and heroes

We will add some new units and heroes. All characters will have the unique qualitative models, new visual effects of special.

6. Campaign

We plan to transfer and complete campaign from the first two parts.

I'd imagine using The Hobbit's Soundtracks is a big no-no.

But lots of the other things look amazing! Keep it up!

If you need a Gondor Pikeman model I have something of use here.
Some nice ideas here though. Are you planning on re-modelling the entire Gondor faction ?

This looks great, the Gondor castle especially looks very impressive. Though I would rather see the new lighting settings toned down a bit. And please don't use any The Hobbit soundtracks, that's asking for big trouble.

When I'm done with the first release of my mod, and some other mods (Animation wise). I'll be able to help here, as a 3D Animator. Completing the stuff I am working on at the moment, may take A LOT of time and shouldn't be expected anywhere soon, I intend to complete all the mods I am working on animation wise, before I actually start/or join a new project. Feel free to find another 3D Animator if the waiting-time takes too long.

I'll be brutally honest with this, since the rest of your stuff is amazing: that does not (to me) look like the borders of Fangorn. Maybe a rename would better suit this map?
