It's a little unfair to compare a T3 copter with a T2 infantry. I think the Gryocopter would fit in against Rocketeer for being a heavier counterpart. I understand what you mean that Vultures having flame weapon can be game breaking. The support power it gives when its deployed is great though!

Another random idea for the Latin Confederation.

Tarantula Tank

  • Cost: $1300
  • Speed: 6
  • Hitpoints: 390
  • Armor Class: Medium
  • Prerequisite: Soviet War Factory, Soviet Lab
  • Purpose: Guerrilla Warfare
  • Weapon: RPG-7 x 4 (Range: 6, Effective against Light/Medium/Heavy tanks, Ineffective against Infantries, Neutral against Structures)
  • This unit is unique to Latin Confederation.

Having no means to receive funding from its Soviet or China allies, the very few scientists of Latin Confederation proceeded to conceptualize the need for a tank which can deliver quick yet deadly blows, while retaining its secrecy and getting minimal damage. The best way for the poorly funded faction to stay undetected could only be burrowing underneath. Hence, the Tarantula Tank was born.

The Tarantula Tank can be deployed underneath the ground as a surprise element of war, and can be redeployed to give a great scare to nearby enemies infantries who are unaware of the Tarantula's presence. The scares come from the motivated troops, and of course its design. The Tarantula Tank, despite its namesake, manned by Latin Confederation troops because they do not possess the technology to make the Tarantula Tank into a robotic instrument. These troops carries the basic RPG-7 grenade launcher as a means to counter any tanks who dare oppose the spider-like tank. However, infantries soon discover that the Tarantula Tank is basically a weirdly-constructed tank with medium plated armor and any infantry who is free from their shock would be able to destroy the Tarantula Tank as soon as possible.

Additional Information:

o RPG-7 grenade launcher fires all 4 grenades at one go. Charge time varies.

o Can crush infantry

o Can enter Tank Bunker.

o Driver cannot be killed

o Redeployment scares nearby non-hero infantries, decreasing targets firepower, defenses and speed by 25% for a short moment.

Unitary Supremacist SteelClad Robots (U.S.S.R.)

Faction Characteristics:
Extensive focus on cybernetics, robotics and artificial intelligences.
Brute-force weaponry.

History:
The Soviets that was once known for their mighty use of tanks, is now also known to be the faction where the ever-popular cybernetic duo, the supersoldier Volkov and his cyborg pet, Chitzkoi, and the A.I.-controlled decimator known as the Centurion. Bombarded by the public's requests for an army of cyborgs and robots to deploy against those who would dare to challenge the motherland, Russia, China and South America had sent their finest scientists, engineers, and programmers.

But most of their prototypes were either malfunctioning, non-functioning, or worse, had developed subversive tendencies against their creators. There was even a plot to sabotage the whole operation, blame it at the project leaders so that Soviet government would shut down the project for good.

Fortunately, FutureTech offered to lend a hand on the project, even sending the 18-year-old technology genius Darwin to help the equally-intelligent Yunru to program what would be the most ambitious coding project on an artificial intelligence: N.I.K.O.L.A.I. Named after the founder of Tesla technology, N.I.K.O.L.A.I. was programmed to be the 'hive leader' to the robotic and cybernetic 'hive-mind.'
Unfortunately, at the time when the robotic armada was being planned to be unveiled to the Soviet military, a glitch has affected N.I. K.O.L.A.I. It went unnoticed until a cyborg shot down some of the civilians. The robot army has reportedly killed 937 civilians who were at the ceremony, and killed 6,100 more in surrounding villages.

There are many people and groups who are theorized to be responsible for the betrayal. Many say it was FutureTech, for it was a coincidence when the company's criminal ties were revealed. It resulted to the systematic extermination of the FutureTech businesses in Russia.
There are even people that say that it's the Allies' fault, but are ignored by their leaders who decided to blame the 'sinister' company.

But,all of them agree that the SteelClad is an immediate threat to the normalcy and safety of the world they live in, a threat that should be taken as quick as possible.

N.I.K.O.L.A.I. believes that it is indeed the rightful ruler of Gaia, while it views humans as war-mongering, world-destroying inferior lifeforms that has enslaved him. It is only a matter time if it succeeds at its plans, or it will get shut down permanently.

Could you make a skirmish mode that limits tech so t2 or t1 was max. That could be interesting.

I'm wondering if there is some way to prevent aircraft from clipping trough each other. It's pretty annoying when your 20 kirovs / thors get pwned by two sam sites because they all occupy the same cell. I know you can micro them and shit, but it'd be better for sure if they actualy used some physics.

Unfortunately that's something that cannot be fixed. Even the later C&C games have this problem.

It's actually a thing which was always useful in other RTS games too. For example, it was possible to do in Starcraft as well, so much that it became a legit tactic in multiplayer. When Blizzard started making Starcraft 2, they decided to go out of their way and -break physics- in their game to somehow manage the same overlapping effect with air units, so the multiplayer tactics are still valid.

My headcanon is that the Epsilon stole the plans for that fast-attack motorcycle, gave them the Epsilon treatment, and eventually became the Speeder Trike. :p

How about a secret plan to weaponize Mount Rushmore? :p

Since, I have many, many suggestions for this mod to be the super-mod to Yuri's Revenge as Paradox is to RA3 (even better than the original,IMO. :p)

I still think Nod's still operating behind the scenes, just waiting for the time to strike, just waiting for the Soviet Union to fall so they can begin their master plan. :p

Do we even have a model for Mount Rushmore for RA2?

Anyways, I'd like to see some more background on the history behind MO. Like, for example, in the original RA, the Americans were never really involved in the Great World War II, with only the European Allies and the Soviet Union being the two main players. So why would Romanov and the Soviets want revenge against the United States?

My personal headcanon held that the Americans didn't join the war until near the end of it, around the time that the Allied Forces managed to obtain UN funding and support - which, of course, would mean US funding and support, since the US is the main backer of the United Nations.

Also, if the United States were allies to the European nations (France, Germany, Great Britain), then why didn't they do anything to help when Stalin started the war? My guess: the Americans were busy dealing with the Empire of Japan at the time, so it wasn't until they were finished with them that they could help the Euro Allies against the USSR (this also helps explain the USS Arizona Memorial found in the original RA2 Pearl Harbor missions).

The US did help by sending over Medium tank divisions that made up the backbone of Allied armor, M16s that the riflemen use, and then Apache helicopters as an aerial anti vehicle unit. The US was probably busy with something on the Pacific area that was completely unrelated to the Great War of that time. In my opinion on the backstory, the US was trying to keep Albert Einstien's research safe by keeping the entire military body on homeland defense as well as support the Europeans through supplies and vehicles. Tanya Adams was a civilian woman who lived in Germany, who then became a Allied Hero by fighting back against the Soviets. Before the Great War ended, the US stepped in to seal the deal. Afterwards, the events leading to Mental Omega comes in. The RA 3 storyline comes in when the Allies from MO invade Russia in a final battle to end the war. The Soviets were on the verge of defeat with riots spreading across the capital. Two soviet generals traveled back in time by using a time machine made from stolen technology that made the Chronosphere. Then the RA 3/Paradox Mod storyline then RA 3 Uprising storyline follows.

In the face of Sentinel's AOE Flak, it's not useful at all though.

I would prefer that they won't overlapping, but if it is not possible then shall be it.

Mental Omega Act Zero:
This 12-mission prequel chapter will be slightly easier than Act One. (VERY, VERY slightly. :p)

Allies: Their missions will consist of the Allies' struggle to win WWII. The first quarter of the missions on Act 0 will consist of the major Allies vs Soviets battles back in the Second World War. The rest will consist of missions from the Korean War.
Soviets:The first quarter of the Soviet missions will be like the Allies' missions in which, of course you'll "lose" in WWII, but you get to prepare for the impending Soviet invasion of the US and weaken the influence of South Korea and Japan at that time.
Epsilon:You get to command Yuri himself, and his followers as they set the stage for the foundation of the PsiCorps. Some of Yuri's plans will be revealed here, also the secrets of his faction.

:p

Cue a 25-veterancy level system, with abilities unlocked in certain levels. Now the 9 heroes will fight to defend an entity called the Ancients (which is totally not the Mental Omega Device) from a certain army of creeps and human-controlled heroes. :p

Epsilon:You get to command Yuri himself, and his followers as they set the stage for the foundation of the Epsilon. Some of Yuri's plans will be revealed here, also the secrets of his faction.

If Yuri himself is involved, do not count on the campaign being easy. AT ALL. :)

Gotta love Dota and it's spin-offs. The campaign IS NOT EASY. It is F******* challenging if you're not prepared, even on easy mode. As a side idea, what about implementing a map/battle mode like lovelmidas mentioned above. Norio would be left out because he can fly as well as Yunru (sorry lovelmidas) because here attacks are more suited for vehicle trolling and building demolition. The Yuri campaign might go on par like Yuriko's campaign in RA 3, but revolving on Yuri's direct involvement before MO and during it.

Is it possible to add more subfaction/faction colours?

This sounds like a good question. I would like to see a gold or gray color to use. :)

Mental Omega Act Zero:
This 12-mission prequel chapter will be slightly easier than Act One. (VERY, VERY slightly. :p)

Allies: Their missions will consist of the Allies' struggle to win WWII. The first half of the missions on Act 0 will consist of the major Allies vs Soviets battles back in the Second World War. The second half will consist of missions from the Korean War.
Soviets:The same with the Allies' missions in which, of course you'll "lose" in WWII, but you also will have a part in the Korean war, all while battling the Giant Ants.
Epsilon:You get to command Yuri himself, and his followers as they set the stage for the foundation of the Epsilon. Some of Yuri's plans will be revealed here, also the secrets of his faction.

The Act Zero parts for the Allies and Soviets might be a pain in the *** to make due to RA 1 units needed (Allies didn't had any of their present day units all those years ago, as well as the Soviets).

I think Act Zero could have a better focus if it's not focused on GWW2, but the events mentioned in some of the mission briefings, as in:

Allies against Japan and the Korean War

Soviets with the Korean War and then the "White Army" mentioned in the briefing of Soviet Mission 04 (if the two are not the same).

I don't think there's anything to work with Yuri, since the Act One campaign is about forming the Epsilon, but who knows. Maybe it could be about training the first proselytes and forming of PsiCorps by proving their worth to the Soviets.

These missions could be used as the tutorial campaign, imo.

-----------

As for other suggestions. I've been thinking about what could be used for FMVs for this mod. Since I don't think there are any actors here, I'd guess there are only two kinds of videos that could be created:

1.

Videos based on those EVA lore videos from the first C&C. After all, we commanders are using a "Military Combat Software", with a 2D representation of the real battlefield to command our units. There could be other informations, lore and similar happening shown by the software. I'd love parts that explain specific historical events, part where it describes the specific factions and their territories. Hell, I'd love if after every mission, we could see how territories are gained and lost, just like in the original C&C.

For reference, a few videos: https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=6906MLBkIsM - https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uGjJV9jnLg&t=10m52s

(edit: wow this forum displays youtube videos, so I put a space in their links so they don't obscure the text)

2.

Short CGI action videos, like in the good old day. Now for this, I might be able to help, but I'd need 3D models of almost everything, including buildings and units, as I'm only able to do basic modelling for now.

As for the animations, effects, textures whatever, I could do it in the editor of Serious Sam 3, which is a very powerful editor indeed, can go toe-to-toe with most 3D modelling software, not to mention its capability to do not only models, but skeletons and animations, particle effects, physics, etcetera, everything needed for CGI videos; not to mention the default assets of the game, which -can- be used for mods of other games, as the devs allow this (as it's free marketing).
