A MO team member at one point claimed that there was going to be a 4th faction (where chaos tech was going). Speeder said that such claim was not official, but he and Zenothist have not commented further. I want to know if they or anyone else can shed light on this possible 4th faction. A long time ago (pre-2.0) there were talks a splinter off of Epsilon becoming a 4th faction (Uri if you remember). I was wondering if this idea was being dug up and considered again.

I can remember a tweet of Speeder stating that a 4th faction is confirmed or planned.

A Totally new fourth side...

 

The LC don't use chemical weapons though aside from Incendiary/Fire-Based weapons.

 

Acid or Poison is more of the SC's forte.

 

I doubt BR2 is the ONLY thing being actively worked on at the moment.

If there were to be a fourth faction IMO it should be an army of purely cybernetic infantry and robotic units all led by the the most iconic, most awesome, and most powerful infantry in the game the Cyborg Commando.Their arsenal would consist of:

Hoplites, Cyborg Prototypes, and Reapers(Maybe Volkov and Chitzkoi) as infantry.

Robot Tanks, Terror Drones, Stingers, Repair Drones, Future Tanks X-0, and Centurion Siege Crawler as vehicles.

Thor Gunships, Dragonflies, Basilisks, and Aerial Fortress Irkalla as air units. (although Thor Gunships and Basilisks probably have human drivers, their robotic sounding voices and the fact that they can't be mind controlled since they are air units could make them pass as unmanned robotic airships)

And last but not least the Cyborg Commando as supreme leader.     

I can imagine a small series of hidden missions(like the Dinosaur missions from C&C and Ant Missions from Red Alert 1) based on it where Cyborg Commando appears out of nowhere because of the anomalies of the space time continuum caused by the overuse of the Chronosphere. Where Cyborg Commando takes over all cybernetic infantry and robotic units at his whim, much like CABAL did in C&C Firestorm and Skynet did in the Terminator movies.

There was a time that a large number people actually believed Speeder was a girl due to some kind of misunderstanding, and Speeder played along with it; so the whole "Speeder-is-a-gurl" thing had people deceived for quite a while.

 

People really wouldn't want a misunderstanding like that to happen again. So I'd advise not to make a bunch of speculations or rumors based on simply what a single project member spoke of once.

 

Besides, it would also be irksome to see a bunch of suggestions coming up for a faction that isn't even confirmed publicly.

There IS a fourth faction.... in Colony Wars.

 

They're mostly mutated forces with a very organic/nature-themed aesthetic on their Structures. The Sub Factions are a Spam Faction, A Debuff/Buff Heavy Faction and a Stone Wall Faction.

I doubt there will be a fourth playable faction but their might be some campaign or scenario only units that make up a kind off fourth faction.  

If there was a 4th faction I doubt that it would  have a large role as there is a lot of other things that the Mental Misters are doing and a fourth faction is a lot of work and they most likely have other priorities such and the next installment in the campaign series.

 

It could be a renegade faction .

I don't really care so much about speculation and fan ideas for a new faction. I want to hear from Speeder or Zenothist (Speeder said they're the only two that can make official statements). They haven't commented yet on these rumors, and I want to know for the very least if its a possibility, and not a "HELL NO" crazy idea.

Very, very, unlikely at the moment. Sometimes fan rumors can manifest into a reality in the gaming world (e.g. Ermac secret character fan rumor from Mortal Kombat 1 became a reality when developers created and made him a playable character in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3). It is best if the Mentalmeisters not comment on the rumor at all because keeping rumors alive is fun especially when your fan-base believes it may or may not happen. It keeps the facade of waiting for new future releases of having a campaign exclusive 4th faction.

I'm pretty sure this rumor was my fault. I was pointing out a grammatical inconsistency that made it sound like there was going to be a forth faction with flying aircraft carriers and chaos tech. I sincerely doubt there will be a forth faction.

Chaos Logic is definitely being removed for BR2. IMO it could have been a nice addition to the Smoke Weapons the LC will be using.

LC isn't high tech enough to invent chaos gas and it wouldn't really fit for its style.
