Since I am little new to this, I have read the rules and such, but I am also having a error sort of like this. I am wanting to play with a friend, we both use Windows 8 and bought Red Alert 3 on Steam. As we go to play the co-op campaign in the game, if i host, it says connection in progress, then failed connection in the chat bar. Also, if my friend hosts, the same error occurs, we have looked online for a solution but none have seem to have worked. I am wondering what this Port 16000 thing is though. If my friend and I go to play a skirmish game, there is no connection error. This error is very odd to me, I have LogMeInHamachi installed, and that program usually lets me and my friend play tons of LAN games together, but it is not working with Red Alert 3. Does anyone know of a solution? My friend's and my launcher are all up to date. Please respond when you can.

We have an idea what the problem might be but can't fix it right now. Possibly in January.
If other players can log in, then the server is obviously running. Although we massively reduced the problem, it's still possible that your game messes up and is left in a half-online state (for the server) so it won't let you back in. We'll try to fix that as well. In the past there was also the problem that the server ran out of possible connections but that is not an issue any more.
Is it possible to explain what kind of issue have you detected?
Although I'm not familiar with these things related to network, but probably I'll find a way to set up my own computer or router....
When I set my computer as DMZ zone in the first time, I connected with others, but in the next day the issue has come back again.......

It's disappointing. We sat down to play red alert 3 together, and ended up mucking around for hours before finally ending in this thread. Didn't realize the servers had been taken down, the old EA ones have been a nightmare for the last couple of years anyway.
Any suggestions as to which settings I should be playing with to try get around this, or is it just better to wait for the powers that be to fix it up on their end? I'm hearing mixed things about forwarding ports and the DMZ.
Hate to think I'll never play RA3 co op again!
