In total you won today 1 game vs Hawky today and you lost 3 games vs him. (That's why I find it odd when you say that he was "going down vs you". In fact he bashed you 3-1) As you maybe have noticed he is an expert 1v1 player. But there are things that you won't have noticed because you cannot know them.

 

You played following matchups: (I will add the matchup % winrate from this topic: http://www.gamerepla...owtopic=954428)

 

Laser vs Air (10% chance to win for you) -> you lost logically this unbalanced matchup. Hawky played with a combat chinook. Something that he literally won't do vs anyone else because it is unfair and a try-hard strategy. I guess the only reason he does this is vs you is because you did this against him in previous matches. Other big players won't do this vs each other because they know of the high imbalance. Air vs Laser is hard enough for Laser.

 

Nuke vs Tank (65%) You had an advantage matchup but you lost it because of your weak strategy - going fast airfield as nuke vs tank. Hawky's tactic was nice and surprising as I have to admit.

 

Demo vs China (90%) You had a big advantage matchup. Honestly I have never seen Hawky doing a fast 2 helixes strategy. And I see him playing since year 2006. He will do this vs no one else than you. And this is not a compliment for you. Same as combat chinook - it's an all in tactic. Decent players normally won't do this vs each other. But see the reason above (what I typed first match). This one you won very closely and with a bit luck in the end as you had only 1 building left in a 90% matchup)

 

SW vs Nuke (85%) As SW vs Nuke you have a huge advantage to win the game. But you lost due to some decision mistakes and because you wasted important full vees.

 

In general I have to say that you have a very good micro Alpine. Especially with humvees. But you lose a lot of matches because of your weak strategies. I guess your problem is that most of the ladder players are not that good. So you can beat them mostly even though you do these weak strategies. But when you face good players you often get problems. I suggest you to copy strategies from players like DoMiNaToR, SiZe or Hawky (when he plays normal and not all in) for example to improve your tactics. You are a in total a good talent in ZH and also faster than for example me. But you often lose because of your strategies. You could be among the best 1v1 players if you do this because you are nearly the only player who trys and spams that hard in the late stage of this game in 1v1.

What late stage of this game ? The Revora Server kicks ass , i cant even remeber that the Server was that full in Gamespy times in like 2010.

Its a litl Jewel not to mention that we are have like 99 % gentool cover. 

 

Je i have to admit he has lot strategys in his memory and every counter too . Thats a thing that i cant catch up cause he play this like 10 years .

But it always nice to see him loosing vs some semi pro like me no matter what the % say about the chances. Thats the games that motivates most.

About 'late stage of the game'.

 

This game is being played online since 2003. I started playing clanwars July 2006. I was there as the lobbys were full. As we had a full 1v1 lobby, a full 2v2 lobby, a very full 3v3 lobby and even a half full 'german lobby' and you had quickmatch where you found an opponent within seconds. You could always join 3 or 4 different competitive 3v3 games that were open to the same time. There were different german clans. egc.vm, fsk18, ifcog.... There were a lot of competitive players, a lot of top players. They all wanted to win clantitles, warriortitles, they wanted to be the best. There was a rivalry. They were many players who spammed this game. They were young and they wanted to play this game.

 

I could even play 3v3 clanwars matches in 2006. There was even a german 3v3 tournament with like 7 or 8 teams. The game was active.

But year by year this went down. Less players, less activity. I can't remember which year it was. But the 3v3 lobby was no more used at some point because this game lost more than 90% of it's online population. The players got older, new games came out, very few new players started it. GenTool gave this game a little push and helped in 2011 and 2012 - especially for good and top players.

 

In 2013 then you could count the competitive scene with 2 hands. Players moved to gameranger and started playing laggy 3v3 matches instead of competitive clanwars matches. competitive clanwars fully died in 2014. Now we have some semis who play some games vs less good players. But this is no more clanwars how it was meant to be.

 

SiZe lost his best enemy RaGe who stopped playing in October 2013. So he has no more decent rivalry who can touch him. You start playing fun build order and still win most of the time. But then you get bored and you stop playing competitively. ExCaL stopped longer ago. Mirage, Yumi, Dackel other experts longer inactive. KaRRo is also someone that we lost. Hawky still plays a bit - but just on a fun mode as there are no more decent opponents. Scuba, Opsnyder no more. Rising made a tiny comeback. Herb just plays few games. GooGle is only in 3v3 gamerangerlaggames. Dominator and Noobfighter got good in the very late stage of this game in the last 12-18 months. They were the last players who got competitive. But also they are thinking of leaving soon.

 

So what is left? I can see not much players who play the ladder competitively. Who want to win through the most points and who invest a lot of time in it. In fact I can see only 1 player who does this. And this is you. I was never part of the 1v1 top players as I am too slow in 1v1 to beat top players in a best of 5. For 2v2 and 3v3 it was never a problem though. But the only reason why for example I can play in the ladder finals is because nearly no one competitive cares for it.

 

Sorry if this hurts someones motivation to keep playing. I still play. Because I like this game and because I still have some mates where i can play teamgames with. And because of this ladder (I like looking at it and getting a rank). And because of GenTool (no cheating and I can get all replays I want.)
